My key registration templates just arrived! Laser cut acrylic to my exact spec. They came out so nice, can't wait to make some prints!! #printmaking #artist #makingart

A close up of the acrylic keying template. It has engravings with the dimensions of the paper and the block, and an engraved slot to key the paper.

The new oil based ink is looking goooood! I was a bit eager and made a few prints before the first layer was dry enough, but doing the rest tomorrow and I'm sure they'll turn out great! #printmaking #linocut #illustration #artist

Two prints of an illustration. The illustration depicts a woman playing guitar.

Shows the process of rolling ink onto a linoleum block for printing.

First test key print of the new design! I really like it, tho I might make a few small tweaks. Gonna start on the tone layer next, and I ordered some new black ink that should be 100% opaque and give the finish I want. 🤞 Can't wait! #art #printmaking #linocut #pinup

While the cat prints are drying I'm preparing the next linocut design. It'll be 20x30cm this time which should be big enough for the details. Better sharpen the tools! #art #linocut #printmaking #pinup

Illustration of a woman playing a guitar, floating in a space of notes.

The design transferred to a linoleum block.

Ack! Noticed when it dried, the first layer bled through the black! Might need to wait 48h instead before applying the black layer. Also carved the background layer to minimize overlap. Giving it another run in a day or two, hopefully it turns out better. #art #printmaking #linocut #traditionalart

First batch of 6 is done! Getting everything right was so much work and just deciding on format and materials was overwhelming, but I'm so happy with the results! The oil based inks are so much better. #art #printmaking #cat #linocut

First pass of the first run! The new inks are oil based and dry slower, so it wasn't as stressful which I appreciate greatly. They were supposed to clean up with soapy water but there was no way. Mineral spirits did the trick just fine tho. #art #TraditionalArt #linocut #printmaking

I bought some classic lino, but unfortunately it's not super fresh. It's workable after conditioning it with linseed oil for a few hours but it's still crumbly if I go too deep. A bit miffed at the supplier honestly. Still, plans are proceeding! #art #linocut #printmaking #traditionalart

The first complete test print came out... ok. The ink coverage isn't great and kinda splotchy. Happy with the design tho! Shaky and weak today so it's time for some rest. #art #cat #printmaking #linocut

Both plates are ready for a test run! Just did the color plate. I'll let it dry overnight and put on the key tomorrow. Exciting to see if they line up well enough or if the poor cat will get entirely crosseyed 🤣 #art #linocut #cat

Carving the key block went well though. Hope the minor slipups aren't too displeasing in the print. I do enjoy the imperfections of block printing though as it adds to the uniqueness and physicality of it. #art #cat #kitty #linocut #printmaking

Had some difficulty with transferring this one. Can't get too hot or the lino deforms, too cold and nothing happens. And my sink top not being flat didn't help heating things evenly... Gonna try another technique next time. #art #cat #kitty #linocut #printmaking

I took a few days of rest. My wall of inertia was building too much by the day. Figuring out what works for me is tricky; it tends to shift week-to-week. Anyway, got back to it today and here's another concept for a #spinbarian villain. #Art #ComicArt #CharacterDesign #OC #GameDev

I haven't drawn from reference in a long time. Honestly I've always been a really bad study. Things come really easy for me up to a point, but I tend to give up when it starts to require effort... yeah, study is a skill. Time to hone it. #DailySketch 🔥25 #Art #Sketch
