second word.

Milestones, according to AI. I was thinking: milestones, or warnings like "road narrows", or "don't fall into ditch" (wondered if the middle word was "fossa").

1. Clanker says milestones 2. I tried "eat" and "sit", and that makes the 3rd word likely to be "tibi" 3. That leaves me with STT. or ETT. for the last word. Neither is a word. 4. Stumped 🏏

Well done! Yes that did make it a bit trickier if you didn't remember their names (I probably wouldn't have either).

I'm still struggling with that one :) Can you tell me which person the subjunctive is?
000
Tony Larch @tonylarch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Both are third person plural present subjunctive. The middle word is a temporal conjunction.

Tony Larch @tonylarch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
The two long words are both present subjunctive.

It's in Latin, and a good example of how concise you can be with subjunctives.

Tony Larch @tonylarch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
I probably should impose a character limit yes. There isn't officially one for URLs but about 2000 characters seems to be a sensible maximum according to AI searches.

Tony Larch @tonylarch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
The title and author (and who set the puzzle) would be nice but I think I'd need to start using a server to store things. It's too much to squeeze into the long URL. If I did use a server we could also have leaderboards and streaks and things.

Well I made it confusing :) Always the difficulty with this kind of software. If only everyone had stuck with UNIX all along.
010
Tony Larch @tonylarch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
you will get the time in there as well. That seems more logical.
200
Tony Larch @tonylarch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Now you mention it I see that is a bit confusing. As soon as you've done it the time (and the link to the puzzle) goes into the clipboard. But if you then hit SHARE it replaces the contents of the clipboard with just the link but no time 🤦. I guess I could make it so that if you've solved it...

🤯 I think the only prose we really read much of was Cicero but also we did some of the cena trimalchionis, which was really interesting. A completely different and rarely seen side of the culture. On the Greek prose side we read some Plato which is very beautifully written.

Not a prof of anything but did do a bit of Latin and Greek a long time ago :) Yes it doesn't support Greek... for now 😈. We could manage without accents and I guess without even breathings or iota subscripts. I don't think they had those on inscriptions? Yes I think it's fair to give the work...

Yes that's what I thought :) The partitive genitive quite easy because we say "part of x" in English which isn't exactly a genitive but similar. Abl of comparison I suppose a bit like the way we say "different from", even though we'd use "than" for aere perennius.
