I read that Eva Marie Saint—who, among many other roles, played Mother Kate in "How the West Was Won"—has passed away at the impressive age of 102. For those of us who grew up in the 70s, Saturdays were set aside for this Western classic, which became a bigger hit here in Scandinavia than in the US.

My grandparents, farmor Irma and farfar Valter at their marriage in 1942. Irma was born in Norway while Valter was partly of vallonian heritage. Both grew up poor, but they managed to pull through and built themself a home in Sandared outside of Borås, Sweden. My uncle Glen lives there these days.

Bosnian Serb war criminal Biljana Plavšić has died. She was sentenced to eleven years in prison following the Balkan wars of the 1990s, during which she championed the ethnic cleansing of Muslims and Croats. Plavšić passed away in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, at the age of 96.

The Swedish Riksdag elected Andreas Norlén from center-right Moderate party with 200 votes against 146 for the red-green candidate Johanna Haraldsson's 146 votes. This after the Left party (Vänsterpartiet) last night decided to vote on Norlén instead of Haraldsson. Who's gonna PM? Who knows?

The voting for Speaker of the House in the Swedish Riksdag started at noon. The two candidates are Andreas Norlén for the center-right Tidö parties (💙🩵💜💛) and Johanna Hataldsson for center-left S, MP and C (❤️💚💚). Since V / the Left (❤️) are going to vote on center-right Norlén, he's supposed to win.

The Left Party, V, suddenly support the center-right Moderate speaker of the house, meaning that the task of Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson to form a new center-left government falls. Instead the Moderates and the Left Party should be asked to form a government, Andersson says.

A disappointed Magdalena Andersson can't see she's able to form a governmet.

A very close election, but when only 6 districts out of 6626 are left to count, the center-left RedGreen opposition have won the Swedish general election with 176 seats against 173 seats for the right- leaning government. Our next PM therefore will be Magdalena Andersson, from the Social Democrats❤️💚

The 4 party big center-left Red/Green Alliance will win over the 4 party big right-leaning Tidö group.
PM Ulf Kristersson is therefore in need to resign, and be succeeded by Magdalena Andersson.

A close election, whete the former Nazi party, the Sweden Democrats, SD, are the biggrst loser of the election.

When the temperature reaches 26 degrees, mussels begin to lose flesh—that is, they become lean. At temperatures above 28 degrees, they risk dying. This summer, the Mediterranean has experienced higher temperatures than the Caribbean Sea. It's turning into a tropical sea, and the mussels are dying.

The result of the Swedish elections for my local town Mellerud looks to grant the Green party one seat, making the party come back into the local council. I suppose I'll be a local MP for the next few years. The center-right party the Moderates becomes the clear winner, gaining four new seats.

OMG The big lead for the center-left opposition ahead of next Sunday's Swedish election has eroded the last week. Now, it's only 2,6%. Especially the Social Democrats are struggling, while the Left, Greens and Center party are doing better than back in 2022. This is getting a bit too exciting.
