They're 'in power' yet seem relatively powerless against the crushing forces of accelerating global challenges outrunning them all and so we somehow ignore the 'elephant in the room' as it doesn't look like the World is going to come together to solve things at a joined-up global scale anytime soon.

In some ways its as though they were welcomed in by and allowed to operate as 'useful idiots' of The (same old same) Establishment ?

So by talking 2030 has Burnham effectively kicked this into the long grass whilst making us think he's had a new 'big idea'? Labour's big problem has been implementing what they announce. So with a track record like this, I give anything pencilled in for 2030 about a 10% chance of happening.

A landing in Portsmouth represents a significant shift in this whole situation. That’s what the government needs to assess and act upon pronto. No good blaming people for getting out of hand when the situation risks getting out of hand.

Only some 😉

maybe? Only if it's soon enough to deliver a positive impact upon the economy and ordinary people's lives otherwise all the bullsh*t scaremongering that worked first time around might just prevail again ?

Is there a parallel to the souring (or perhaps eventual exposure for what it really is) of the so called 'American Dream'? Just asking.

Unlikely to happen under labour perhaps due to union pressure. If they go ahead exempting unions; the(cake and eat it) out-fall would be pretty catastrophic in a world where we increasingly witness the ersosion of political integrity across the spectrum.

....maybe we can't do much about (1 and 3) our DNA and God like technology. The only hope might be institutions that understand both 1 and 3 and enable a world that can navigate through it. Western institutions however seem to be degenerating into dictatorships hiding behind the name of democracy.

Imagine the 'alternative reality' of living in bunker 24/7 whilst still maintaining a scratch golf handicap 🤣

Andy Burnham will too, and rapidly, if he carries on with the same old same u turns. Considering tax cut (personal allowance) yesterday / not happening today apparently. Same old same u turn labour will be going nowhere fast. People are sick of not to mention wise to that kind of serial caper.

OMG only a political imbecile could fail to understand the risk, rules and protocol behind ensuring a fair trial. Shockingly idiotic.

Moments that stick with me are the number of times England players keep trying to initiate a foul or go down easily despite the fact that it's been well sussed out by the officials at this World Cup. They're no good at it anyway. They need to get with the program or it could be their undoing.

nothing more than we'd expect from any self-serving little shit

UK is looking more like a football club tumbling down the leagues as the fans continue to demand the sackings of each latest manager whilst expecting the next one to be any different. In politics, maybe just swap the word 'fans' for 'the media'. UK is set to tumble below Estonia in one Global table.

Can you get done for shop lifting nowadays ? 😉

It should be well known that the unregulated system in the US has run well out of control becoming way more expensive to the government (per capita) than an NHS style system. I can only assume that the likes of Farage just want to privatise healthcare in the UK to line their own & cronies pockets.

I don't know how or what he gets away with it. Us ordinary folk might find ourselves quickly under arrest for incitement.

Yes I remember their bullshit 'you can trust private ownership' at the time. So many people were duped.

I’m no fan of Starmer. He’s maybe my biggest political disappointment. McSweeney should have chosen a better puppet maybe 😉

Ranking lists for pros and 3 ranks of amateurs might be a good thing to attempt. I’m still around 4 hcp and hate a long slog round a pro length course. But then I play at Buxton Cavendish. (Mackenzies design inspiration for Augusta with its own Amen Corner) Some say best sub 6000yd course there is

Would a certain major broadcaster facing a multi billion lawsuit in Florida go out of their way to upset the far/fascist right? Does such a thing leave them compromised?

I very much suspect that percentage of LABOUR MEMBERS who want to go left wing is significantly different to the percentage of VOTERS wanting the same. The labour left (members) should respect what got them in at the general election. Clue - it wasn't a strong left wing agenda.

A (drop in the ocean) step in the right direction. Making a big PR (and breakfast time media) fuss about such a drop in the ocean, when so much is stacked up against ordinary people, is straight out of the labour 'How to Score PR own Goals' playbook 😉 One caller ripped it to shreds before 8:00am

Had me fooled for a minute there 😉 Thought US and Israel were suddenly at war but I think you mean .......'began alongside Israel'

This sounds so dumb. Assuming it will get revoked it's like waving a big red flag with 'investigate me' stamped on it. Doing nothing would seem to be a wiser move and less incentive for people to question why they should want immunity.

Tony Fallon @tonyfallon.art · 20/05/2026
yes I like that I can do that now. I just think that an official 'none of the above' is more powerful.

Not sure but, after so long in the eu, we don’t have a single party with solid experience of governing the UK as an independent UK
000
Tony Fallon @tonyfallon.art · 19/05/2026
I absolutely agree so long as we have a ‘None of the above’ box. They dare not do it though as we can have a good guess at the outcome! 🙂

Ah nice a variant of that classic ‘me or your lying eyes’ JR to Sue Ellen quote. It was pure (evil pantomime fantasy land TV villain stuff) back in those days but today it’s a sad reality of pushing down-right lies as fact. They’re all at it 😁

Voters have got another 3 years to notice how councils since/now controlled by Reform are turning out to be doing very badly indeed and not even delivering on promises. Question is; ‘ how many will choose not to’ (notice)?

Until today, I always thought Ziggy Stardust came first but realise now that it's simply because I bought it (aged 11) before getting Hunky Dory. All turned out well as I needed to be a year or two older to appreciate Hunky Dory.

If you like facts I really would check your own first. Best independent trackers have implementation/in progress in the range of 20-35% / 15-25% u-turned, abandoned, not implemented, 45-60% still pending, unclear or long term. Regardless; their 12-14 ‘U-turns’ include what I thought I’d voted for.
000
Tony Fallon @tonyfallon.art · 13/05/2026
So we don’t agree - I’m comfy with that

Tony Fallon @tonyfallon.art · 13/05/2026
Is this part of the problem. Party not voted in on a left agenda but the left become internally active once in power. I think all in the party should respect what they were voted in for. IMHO

Tony Fallon @tonyfallon.art · 13/05/2026
Good point 😺

I could agree if only they’d turned to be what a lot of us thought we’d voted for.

Yes I wish they would. That would be some revelation. Doing what they said they’d do.

Looking from the other side of the pond; this makes a lot of sense. It might have been happening for years over here with Gaurdian readers pretty much isolated in a bubble of sometimes impotent outrage.

What if the potentially catastrophic court case faced in Florida has created an underlying silent bias in the BBC to do the right wing no harm?

Tony Fallon @tonyfallon.art · 10/05/2026
I'm not looking forwards to the excrutiating boredom of Starmer's impending period in 'the Bunker

Aye - the Democrats dithered over Biden too until it was too late. Maybe this is the obvious way it goes visible to all but the dithering party.

Tony Fallon @tonyfallon.art · 10/05/2026
So long as they have the massive law suit hanging over them in Florida; I feel that the BBC are, tacitly, compromised.

I've been listening to all comers being interviewed today I suspect they're on some kind of sugar coated happy pills 😜

Don't mean to come over as populist. I felt I was just shouting back (at populist stuff) 🙂

Insurance based healthcare costs any treasury more than the likes of the NHS. In the US it costs the government 3 x more per capita due to the very costly consequences of an unregulated health insurance system. Hardly anyone recognises this.
