I can’t believe that a prosecutor thought it would be okay to use ChatGPT (according to SynthID) to turn mugshots of the people she’s prosecuting into deepfakes with manipulated facial expressions. There’s something truly sick about the mindset required to do this. (Blurring by me.)

A Facebook post from the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office of Coolorado, with a media release about defendants being sentenced. THe post includes a generated image of two men behind prison bars, with sad facial expressions, and pictures of two dogs they were alleged to have stolen, with a note saying "I hope stealing me was worth it."

Below the post I commented: This Al slop is beneath an office that is supposed to be a minister of justice. Using defendants' booking photos to create fictional scenes with altered facial expressions and fabricated bodies only serves to mock and ridicule, not inform the public. See Colo. I made a chart of Minnesota federal lawsuits with captions of “v. [Bondi/Noem/Easterwood/Lyons/Trump]” over the last three months. Almost all of these are immigration habeas corpus cases.
