A lot of LLM slop comes from the user being Sloppy. it is about good questions, prompts and giving the right information to an LLM then testing robustly

I note in many card games the Top Trump card is the joker. Is it all just a big joke, in poor taste clearly?

Forget "Evil genius" what about coining the term "Evil ignoramus" that has a narsistic form of the "Dunning-Kruger effect", add some subtle forms of dementia or was it an inferiority complex, that led him to reject rational argument and evidence?

When politicians say "Safety net" it may imply "we will catch you if you fall", however implied is only if we run to place the net under you (if we deem you worthy typically through a means test). It would be better to have a "universal" solution. "Safty Net" are wriggle words.

If you have a leader who interferes with funding public institutions based on perceiving them as not following his/her ideology, but will increase funding to those that do, you have a dictator in development. They are not acting for all people, only those that keep them in power.

When the major players are asking for regulation before market failure occurs, they may be hoping that setting a floor on all players is in their interest. I suspect they hope they can suppress new players to protect their over capitalisation. Regulation has its place be be carful who asks for it

Remember the various social media networks are private companies, they are not public news media, although they often steal that content, they are not social services and many are not local, but international conglomerates. We also know they are "hands off" allowing illegal content. Change is needed

If Australia's Laws result in the ability to opt out of the Algorithm and restricted output to friends and followed users and groups, I may return to Facebook as a user and a publisher much more often and they can get more advertising delivered to me.

Pauline is demonstrating her ignorance or selective memory we see a lot more of from the "ridiculous right". Some wealthier people put extra money in but most people do not, the super they have, has being imposed on Employers over the decades. For deferred realisation.

I think we should build a movement for people to join with the express purpose of non-partisanship. I now reject all ideologies or any group who's membership demands adherence to received values and ideas. Let us discuss issues with openness, generosity and evidence and reject specific ideologies.

One thing about getting older, into your sixties, is the news increasingly contains death notices of peers and those a decade or two older, you were aware of when you were younger, and often your whole life.

The problem with "intelligence" in computers is it does not have moral or ethical knowledge, that it must follow to avoid negative consequences. Isaac Asimov suggested the three laws of robotics, in his stories they needed to be embodied. Today right and wrong is also virtual.

Hanson's recent comments that immigration has being a problem since the 70's belies her racism, that she never accepted the world has changed. So next time she claims immigration has gone too far today, remember she has been against it since way back. This is not a backlash, they were never lashed 😅

When you have extremely wealthy people in your society be prepared for many things to be taken into private hands and kept from the public, be it Fossils, Historical items, scientific or medical advances. There is a floor to wealth, its called poverty, why not a ceiling?

I abhor violence and intimidation, but one thing that concerns me about accounts from the Royal Commission is many of the witnesses speak of how they felt or interpreted circumstances. These accounts, need to offer evidence beyond their own feelings, we cant legislate based on how someone felt alone

The very basic rule "If it seems too good to be true, it most likely is not true", contacted by someone attractive?, someone who promises to make you rich, someone of public note. Failure to understand this leaves many people open to scams. Stop it.

I am genuinely saddened by the loss, too early, of Sam Neil. For me its not the roles he had, which were excellent but his character that emerged between the movies, in conversations and his respect for others.

Have you heard about the Fallacy of the "thin veneer of civilisation"?, that posits if civilisation falls, we will resort to violence and selfishness. When in fact people work together and help each other, time and time again, in disasters, war, famine. What does this tell us?

Another project I am on is "Design and solutions in the face of Complexity and Uncertainty (working title)". We humans resort to a lot of B.S. when we can't handle complexity or uncertianty. I argue we can learn to handle this much better than we do, and discuss how.

I saw a good price for a high capacity SD card, in an AliExpress email, I used ChatGPT to test the plausibility and it was a 10th of the typical cost and claiming 10 x the capacity that exists anywhere (which are in the hundreds of $). Another use for ChatGPT, test the plausibility of claims.

Warm some ice, eventually it changes phase into water, keep warming it, it changes phase into a gas. Keep warming the earth it will undergo a phase change, a change we will not survive in great numbers if any. It will be the end of us, driven by 1% who profit, but only for a moment. We must change.

With all the problems that we need to solve, immigration, culture and right-wing alternatives is not what we need. Look under the surface and One Nation is a group of ignorant, racist, extremists we can not afford to give any power to. Demand more from mainstream and independent politicians.

Pauline Hanson is not the threat, its people who vote for her that are failing to understand the consequences of giving her a platform. Who voted for her to lead her party? will she always lead "One Notion" regardless of her performance? We don't want an Australian Trump.

The One Nation partly is living up to their reputation the One notion party. Like the Borge they will "Assimilate you" and call people illegal, they will try and impose their world view on all of us. With the private news media all but dead they will destroy public media.

If you have a monoculture Hanson you need to choose one, who does this?, only you. You will need to define it and enforcing it will effectively be a fascist position. I am sure your ideas come mostly only from ignorance, but it disqualifies you from leading us let alone a party.

Beware people seeking power criticising others whilst having no capacity to actually do any better. This is Trumps playbook, tell people what they want to hear but make no effort to research how or even action such ideas. If you can't hear a rational plan they plan to break their promises.

Immigration is a time worn miss direction, tap into xenophobia rather than deal with the real issues. This does not mean some changes need not be made but it is no reason to give power to the ridiculous right. We don't want Trump lite here.

The present fuel crisis is evidence for moving to renewables, not a reason to become more dependant on fossil fuels whether we have them locally or import them. Sure we need a reserve but the reserve need not change, but it will last longer if we need less fuel.

Deporting people who commit crimes, and then serve their sentences, is a weak and stupid idea. We should not just make it someone else's problem. Crimes committed locally have often being caused by local problems, we need to work to reduce crime not export it.

Might is not right. One of the U.S. most common mistakes is believing its own propaganda. With a fool in charge even more so. We have to ask the question if an elected leader commits war crimes is the country who elected him responsible? or will they claim the discredited nuremberg defence?
