One of these days one of these caliper Twitter dipshits will “invent” Tricknology from first principles but in a positive light.

I loved that quote as both her advice and the reply were terrible. The close Senate seats Dems lost were Wisconsin and North Carolina, not fricken Missouri! The closest house seats Dems lost were in New York & California, not Texas! Just two junior staff with air between the ears talking shit

Gas is going over $5 in October. Wheels are coming off. Nowhere for the GOP to go but down. It's gonna get weird.

It's been a while but his polling average was probably like 15% throughout the year, which is only a couple of points ahead of where Buttigieg prob is right now.

But I think not having Trump as the incumbent in 2028 will let some people roll the dice a bit more than 2020.

To be a little fair to Harris, I don't think Biden cracked into 40% all of 2018.

It's tough designing a large program as the bulk of people who show up for a canvass aren't going to be veterans. I've seen claims that over 50% of results come from 10-15% super volunteers, but you still need to have a program ready to do intake, train, and somewhat cater to a lot of green people.

Keep in mind that this is coming from someone with an organizing background. An average volunteer will have a harder time in some of the conversations he highlights e.g. volunteer recruitment or Republicans. Re-run those situations with someone who has never knocked a door, results may differ.

Matsui isn't a bad Rep beyond not being right for the moment. She isn't pulling Richard Neal level sabotage of Biden Family Leave on behalf of corporate interests. Or the gutter bigotry that Sherman & Gottheimer engage in. Just a go-along Dem Vote who brought home $ but ran one cycle too many.

I can't imagine anyone serious truly believing it. One election cycle feeds into another, Senate Republicans in 2026 will still exist in 2029. It's easier to pass legislation in 2021 if Bill Nelson wins another 11,000 votes in 2018 or Katie McGinty and Russ Feingold get 100k more votes in 2016.

Not quite, the Senator was arrested for a DUI but not prosecuted after a blood test showing she wasn't drunk or high. Her sister has been convicted of two DUI's and is running for her old Assembly seat after losing it in 2024 in part due to the DUI's and a redder year. She'll prob win this year.

Those nostalgic elements are often vestigial. The bully subplot, no character arc or serve any purpose. But old movies often had a threat from an older kid. So you put it in the movie. The cliche is the adventure teaches you how to deal with the bully. In Oak St, the kid deserved the beating.

Carcinization is just the evolutionary process of how we keep getting things that look like crabs, not carceral related. Just playing around with the idea of how we keep getting things that make simple majority vote democracy a multi-step process.

Anti-establishment young turk consultants scrolling through Instagram reels to find the next working class hero vs Israel's biggest fan in the senate clearing the field for a 78 year old who doesn't want to actually campaign. No solution in sight, but neither is a great way to run a party.

It's 2056, AIPAC is bringing back the yearly policy conference. The only Jewish elected member to speak is 101 year old Rep. Brad Sherman. He is flanked by 10 of the most anti-semitic evangelical Republicans the south can produce. One uses a cigar cutter to sever a pinky in devotion to Israel.

What do they think Democrats should do in 2026-28? Sometimes agree with Trump to look reasonable? Every Trump decision the wrong one. Every media cycle to show he screwed something up. Everything is worse under Trump and only a 2026 Dem win can stop the bleeding & 2028 Dem trifecta to fix it.

I didn't have strong feelings either way about the other DSA candidates when they first ran. Cedillo, De Leon & Mitch all had problems. But the seeming lack of interest in fixing structural problems from Hugo, Jurado and Hernandez has been a let down.

The article is much ado about nothing at this point. But for parts of my family, the pie dish would have been unforgivable. They still talk shit during the holidays about people who haven't returned things or raided the flatware after a family death when the USSR still existed.

True! But it was for a very small voter registration team he funded back when he was doing that. He listened to the team, asked questions, and stayed over an hour. Didn't pontificate or lecture, just listened to people and was a generally nice guy.

The Senates main job will be to divert the reactionary interests and sexual hang ups of the landed gentry & small biz tyrants. No power and will spend most of the year bragging about how much “facetime” they got with the MVPs and boy does their wife enjoy the golf junkets with them as well.

Just 10x the House, head of Gov is a PM. Head of state is split into quarters- previous years MVP of the MLB, NFL, NBA & NHL serve a quarter. If you 100% insist on a Senate it’s given to the biggest earners by $ of real estate agents, car dealership owners, and regional biz like oil and farming.
