Helö, Internet! I'm Tomas, currently participating in the #Devtober game jam. I'm creating a game that is held together by hope and virtual duct tape. I know: - Matematic 🧮 - Computer 💻 - Language 💬 UTC+1 / UTC+2

Day 10 of #devtober, didn't do anything. I have some pressing matters to take care of. Will hopefully start working again on Monday.

Day 9 of #devtober, worked a bit more on the law system. Laws (logical statements) can now be evaluated to see if they are satisfied. Upcoming next are contradicting laws that overpower each other. I also practiced my Eainglich. The game can now generate sentences with correct verb tenses etc.
A code snippet showing how a law is being defined and later evaluated against a set of parameters: a murder with a knife and a murder with a handgun.

Later section showcases a primal method of constructing Einglich sentences.Software output showing that laws are being evaluated correctly: murder with knife is legal, murder with handgun is illegal.

Later output also shows the synthetically constructed sentence: "Bob has murdered the victim with a weapon".

Day 8 of #devtober, reworked the law structure, limited it to only conjunctive and disjunctive cases. I'll drop my parser thingy, instead I'll simply put all data into code. I don't think it is really necessary to split code and game data, since I ship a single exe/wasm file anyways.

I love the silliness of your situation. That is actually one of the reasons why I don't use game-engines. You always happen to get unexpected behavior like that in places you don't expect ambiguities.

Day 7 of #devtober, took a break, worked on rl stuff.

Day 6, fixed segfault, took me a while... It reminds me when I've forgot to do the copying when implementing "memcpy" earlier in the project. Imagine: You're driving a car. You see that you've blown a tire. When you check for it: you see that there where no wheels to begin with. #Devtober

Forgot to add #devtober.

Day 5, finished writing a basic logic evaluator, it can determine simple things like: (A∧¬B)∨C. I also designed a human-ish config language for describing laws. Now I'm making a parser for it. Got stopped by a segfault, will fix it tomorrow.

Beautiful art. Are those flapping wings or some sort of energy leaving the body?

2/2 In the given image, the defendant did not kill the victim, because a knife is not considered a weapon by my fictional laws. A weapon is defined as a military appliance, a knife is a kitchen appliance. I plan on making a silly atmosphere, where nobody can lawfully prove an obvious crime.

Day 4 of #Devtober 1/2, worked on the logic engine. I think my posts lack the vision I have for the game. So here's some: The game will revolt around looking in the law book, trying to find things that don't match. Similar to Papers Please, but instead of false passports, "false" accusations.
[Panel 1]
Prosecutor: Defendant killed the victim with a knife.

[Panel 2]
"Defendant killed Victim with knife", player opens their law book.

[Panel 3]
Entry on term "Kill": Taking other's life with a weapon.
Entry on term "Weapon": Military equipment.

[Panel 4]
Law 123: Killing is illegal.

[Panel 5]
Advocate: Knife is not classified as a weapon, thus it was not a killing.

[Panel 6]
Prosecutor is dumbfounded.

[Panel 7]
Judge deems the defendant as not guilty.

[Panel 8]
Victory!

Day 3, fixed audio and textures. Next up... The logic engine! I plan to tackle down gameplay elements first. Once I get a working skeleton, I'll start making the "game" and all of its related art. #Devtober

Day 2, finally got something on screen. This has taken me an embarrassing amount of time to make. I usually don't make browser applications, so it is an exotic experience to me. So far I only have a white bouncing square... Tomorrow I'll try to work on drawing images and playing sounds. #Devtober

Hallo Internet! I've been told by the Devtober game jam to post daily progress on social media, so here I am! I'm making a game where you (the player) play as an attorney and will find ways and hoops in the law to save your poor clients from their prison sentence! #gamedev #indiedev
