Woke up this AM and, somewhat inconveniently, couldn’t see out of my left eye. Emergency appt- now with shedload of various eye drops. Hourly. All through the night. Revisit tomorrow. Monitor. It is what it is. Although I was doing so well avoiding hospitals.

Cutting back to 5-10 mins daily on each social media platform has been good. I miss some news/events, naturally, but gain a lot of thinking time and perspective. It does mean when you go back on with ‘fresher’ eyes you are far more aware of how 90% is just trite arrant BS. Happily avoidable.

Training block basically finished. 4 reps of 60kg on the trap DL today. I weigh 61.2 (ok, 65.8 with legs). Was not good form or comfort so dropped to 3x15 on 50kg (pictured here). For those on TP: current highest ATL and CTL in many years. That’ll do, donkey. That’ll do.

First proper ride on the road bike, on the road, in 18mths. It’s been superb on the @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social Electric G-Line but lovely to be back on the @trekbikes.bsky.social. Next step: using #MagPeds on the road. Until now, they’ve been turbo only while I build confidence & fitness. Onwards

Rucking 5kg @ Haldon today. After weeks of 2-mile Green trail I decided to try the 3-mile Raptor trail. Steep ascents/descents really pushed prosthetics. Also only the 2nd 5k I’ve done (after ParkRun), so very happy. Tired quads and glutes though! Onwards.

Took advantage of med appt in town yesterday to visit newly-opened @blacksheepcoffee.bsky.social branch in #Exeter. Massive range and very busy, but impressed to see 6am opening times. At last a safe haven to visit on super early rides! Cakes were great, coffee was ok but more testing needed.

My audition for the Royal Ballet was sadly unsuccessful. I did have much more success, however, at yesterday’s @proactiveprosthetics x @hkphysioltd Amputee Running Workshop at Exeter Arena. Good fun, good people, and learned a great deal from Holly King, Josh Bess, Alan McDougall and Katy McIntosh.

Very slack on the social media front, but very busy in real life. First sportive with prosthetics last Saturday, first day of new Counselling course on Tuesday, and first amputee running workshop yesterday. All good fun and new ground, but predictably quite tired. And limbs sore. More sleep needed.

On a personal note, I’ve only been on the road again for 2 months in this post-amputation era so it was special to be able to mark this rehab milestone among a charity and people I really respect. I’m ecstatic their first sportive has gone so well and hope it will return. 50 or 100 next year?

It was a privilege and a pleasure to ride the 30-mile route option at the @devonairambulance.bsky.social’s first sportive yesterday. The rain held off, the riding company was superb, and 2000ft ascent in 30-miles was a stimulating challenge (!)

I’ve instituted limits on all my Social Media app use, and it’s brilliant. 30m on IG, 30 on here, 15 on everything else. I don’t have any social clients currently, so guilt-free recapturing of my time/focus. Should’ve done it ages ago. (Forgive me if it takes me a day to reply or acknowledge you).

Juggling training and ongoing issues for two weeks with the prosthetics. Rub and impact wounds keep reopening. Waiting for ‘emergency’ appt to modify prosthetic and liner. Legs healing and not really painful so just the usual waiting and non-linear training progress. Onwards.
