Can I shock you? I would actually like Bournemouth to beat City. Despite what I said earlier #avfc #utv

Been watching a lot of the Sudamericano U17 and Argentina and Vélez left back Simon Escobar is really standing out. Has all the physical, technical and mental qualities to make it at the top level. Could be a long term solution to what has been a problem position for the national team.

Where can I get a pair of glasses like Always Ready coach Julio Cesar Baldivieso?

Argentina off to a winning start in Sudamericano U17. Goytia and Alcaraz with a brace each

Argentina squad for U17 Sudamericano announced. Baroni the biggest name but lots of talent like Policella in there. Personally really looking forward to see Simon Escobar - very exciting left back

And also really liking what I'm seeing from Boca talent Tomas Aranda. The 18-year-old had his first start in the 3-0 win versus Lanús and impressed with his dribbling, vision, and ball-winning. Very rounded skillset

Lots of young players catching the eye over the last week or so. Most notably Thaiel Peralta and Lautaro Gómez, who both scored braces. But a player who has gone under the radar is Instituto's Luca Rafaelli, who scored his first senior goal vs Union. Another exciting 17-year-old talent

And on the subject of attacking, there was a debut for Belgrano product Ramiro Tulián (18). An international at youth level, people are very excited about him in Córdoba. Expect to hear a lot more about him.

Banfield caught my eye with their youthful lineup in their 3-0 win over Newell's. Standout was 19-year-old strapping striker Tiziano Perrotta who scored two thumping headers. Both wingers Lisandro Piñero (18) and Lautaro Gómez (22) looked tidy too. Lautaro Villegas (22) also started in midfield.

Yet another Talleres prospect rising to the fore. 19-year-old striker Valentín Dávila came off the bench to score a brace at the Kempes in a 2-1 win against Gimnasia Mendoza - fittingly on the Día de San Valentín. Game also featured Giovani Baroni (17) and Santiago Fernandez (20) from the start

Mixed start to the season for Boca but nice the likes of Iker Zufiaurre, Gonzalo Gelini and Tomas Aranda getting plenty of minutes. Zufiaurre in particular with a beautiful strike against Vélez - his first senior goal, having been a key player in a successful reserves team that won the Clausura

A player I picked out at the start of the year, Ignacio Ovando, stacking up good performances. Kept River Plate at bay with a maturity beyond his years. Super comfortable on the ball too. I'm becoming a bit of a fan boy

Last night also saw Dilan Godoy (19, forward) get an assist and a cameo from the super exciting Alex Veron (17, winger). He might not have featured against Huracán but have really liked what I saw from Matias Arias (18, midfielder). Think we'll see a fair bit of him under GBS

I'm a sucker for any Vélez academy graduate and some new names already rising to the fore this year. Tobias Andrada wasn't at his best vs Huracán, but that's 3 starts from 3 for the 18-year-old + got the winner vs Instituto. Versatile midfielder with interesting characteristics

Staying in Córdoba, Lautaro Gutiérrez caught the eye - coming off the bench to score a stunner in a late comeback against Rosario Central. A first goal in only his second appearance for the powerful 19-year-old forward, who has been banging them in a youth/reserve level

Football is back up and running in Argentina as the Torneo Apertura got underway last night. Going to try and do my best to chart some of the best emerging prospects First up: Giovanni Baroni (Talleres) Assist on his debut for the Argentina U17 international. Very interesting prospect

6. Thaiel Peralta (Huracán, 17) This is more of a long shot, but Peralta's dribbling and invention has stood out to me and could be a nice addition to a side that's solid but lacking in creativity. Giving me Benjamin Dominguez vibes and might take a couple years, but think he'll get minutes
000
Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 11/01/2026
5. Ramiro Tulián (Belgrano, 17) There are a number of really great prospects coming from the Argentina U17s I could have gone with, but Tulian feels like he's ready for first team opportunities. Recently tied down to a new contract following interest from Europe, I hope he's given a chance
100
Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 11/01/2026
4. Ignacio Ovando (Rosario Central, 18) Perhaps the player I'm personally most intrigued to see how they develop, Ovando has shown glimpses of his excellent 1v1 defending, reading of the game, and line-breaking passes. Alongside Giménez, Central have two fantastic centre backs with high ceilings

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 11/01/2026
3. Facundo Gulli (San Lorenzo, 20) One of the few reasons for Ciclon fans to get excited, Gulli is a diminutive creative playmaker who really caught my eye at the tail end of 2025. Will quickly become the creative fulcrum of the side and establish himself as a top domestic talent
100
Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 11/01/2026
2. Juan Cruz Meza (River, 17) While Lencina was the standout academy graduate in the second half of last year, Meza showed some *really* promising signs. Expect the teen midfielder to see his minutes increase and gain more attention

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 11/01/2026
1. Thiago Silvero (Vélez, 19) We all know what a great youth developer Velez is and they've produced some good defenders lately. Valentin Gómez, then Jano Gordon, and now Silvero looks like the next one to make the step up and be an important first team player in 2026

With the yearly Golazo 50 list in final stages of production, I'm looking ahead to players who can make a big impression in 2026 and one talent who has really caught my eye is Rosario Central's Ignacio Ovando. Looks like a very classy defender

Our reliance on Youri to progress the ball / break lines from deep is so stark Not urgentz but think we should be lining up a long term succession plan Using Statsbomb similar player tool, Matias Siltanen flagged up as a potential heir #avfc

Facundo Gulli is a player who has really caught my eye over the last couple of months. Diminutive, left-footed San Lorenzo enganche that loves to get on the ball and make things happen. Feel like next year could be a big one for him.

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 26/07/2025
Nahuel Herrera is a player I'm liking the look of. A proper defender's defender - sniffs out danger, physically robust, quick across the ground, strong personality. Might not be "cultured" enough for a top team yet, but sides that have a lot of defending to do should be taking a look

Villa linked to young LASK centre back Modou Keba Cissé. A quick look at his radar on Statsbomb looks promising #avfc

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
5. Luca Regiardo (Newell's) Newell's have not had a great start to the season but Regiardo has been one of the few bright spots. Dynamism to play further forward and has shown good personality and maturity. Along with Silvetti and Acuña, La Lepra have some real talent
000
Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
4. Camilo Rey Domenech (Boca Jnrs) Probably the most well-known of the list and someone I've been following for a couple of years. Kind of went under the radar after missing out on U17 World Cup and U20 Sudamericano but, alongside Milton Delgado, looks a real promise
100
Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
3. Facundo Di Biasi (Gimnasia LP) The type of deep-lying midfielder who likes to get on the ball and set the rhythm. Calm, recycles possession well but can also hit line-breaking passes. Good shield defensively too. Looks like el Lobo have their Miramon replacement
110
Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
2. Agustin Medina (Lanús) The 18-year-old ripped it up for the Reserves last year and has made the step up look easy. Good on the ball, shows plenty of personality in the build up, and quick to recover possession. Can also fill in at centre back if needs be.

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
1. Leonel Pérez (Huracán) Not to be confused with ex-Sunderland and Cambridge Utd's French goalkeeper, Pérez has quickly become a pillar of his side. Huracán usually very defensively solid and he's ensured that no end. Young revelation of the season so far?

Vélez has got off to a stinking start to the year but Alvaro Montoro has really stood out. Silky skills, massively one-footed dribbles, and an absolute fearlessness...what's not to love!

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 31/01/2025
Ecuador have a great recent record of producing centre backs and Deinner Ordóñez might be the next in line 🇪🇨 Just 15 and understandably VERY raw, but not looking massively out of place against players up to five years his senior at the Sudamericano U20

Some real talent in the Uruguay U20 squad. Helguera, Peralta, Lavega, Machado, Petit & Montero (yes, son of Paolo) all standouts. Looking forward to seeing more of Pacifico, Severo & Barbas too.

Independiente Juniors - IDV's de facto reserve team - have appointed 29-year-old Joe Armas as manager. Did impressive work at Imbabura and definitely an interesting young coach to look out for

Argentina's final Sudamericano Sub20 squad announced. No Anselmino but well stocked at centre back with Giménez and Ramirez. Shame that there is no Santiago Lopez or Dylan Aquino but lots of exciting attacking talent. Midfield the only area that looks a little bit short of depth

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 05/01/2025
Catching up on the first few games of the Copinha and pleased to see Dell get off the mark for Bahia. Only 16 and recently signed a contract to 2027, if he continues to light things up, a big move wouldn't surprise me

Colombia's squad for the Sudamericano U20 announced. Looking forward to see more of #avfc's Yeimar Mosquera. Oscar Perea and Jordan Barrera will be big draws too

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 30/12/2024
Keeping a close eye on Alejandro Severo. Finished the year in great form and should play a decent role for Uruguay U20s in 2025. Racing Montevideo developing some interesting talent in recent years (e.g. Mouriño, Nandin). Severo could be next

Super strong Argentina "pre-selection" for the U20 Sudamericano, with lots from the squad that got to the U17 World Cup semis. Hopefully there won't be any withdrawals, although it might help some of Placente's selection headaches

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 23/12/2024
10. Dylan Aquino (Lanus) After a season slowly being integrated into the first team, the classy attacking midfielder will surely play a bigger role for the Sudamericana semi-finalists. Will also be interesting to see which of Gonzalez or Ontivero at LB steps up after Soler's inevitable departure
000
Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 23/12/2024
9. Mateo Silvetti 'Toto' may not last the January transfer window at Newell's, but I hope we get to see at least another six months of the exciting striker before he departs. Excellent ball striker, powerful, quick feet. Top talent. Shout out for Valentino Acuña too.

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 23/12/2024
8. Lautaro Vargas (Unión) Forward thinking full back/wing back who was low key impressive. Still raw but has the attributes to become a useful player, either at a higher level in Argentina or a mid-level league abroad. Argentina in need of RBs so worth keeping tabs

Tom Robinson @tomrobbo89.bsky.social · 23/12/2024
7. Santino Andino (Godoy Cruz) 19-year-old winger break through in the second half of 2024 but will look to establish himself as a top young talent. Direct, good 1v1, exciting player who will get plenty of room to develop.
