Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Yes. It's a work in progress across several groups of folks at the protocol and app layers. I'm hopeful that we see something usable land in the next couple of months, but a fully supported, on-protocol group/community will probably be more like 12 months. OpenMeet is building in that direction 000
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 13/05/2026I've got a couple of different methods, but both have sharp edges, and are not something intended for public use yet. What'cha working on? 201
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 11/05/2026I think I agree. I want things to be as painless as possible. I've tripped into creating a fresh DID at tangled due to my own inattention :) Is this to call out a needed improvement, or just general observation? 100
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 09/05/2026Resolution still works because AT URIs name a DID, not a host at://did:plc:abc/collection/rkey. Clients resolve the DID at every read, pull the current PDS from the DID document. We just change the DID document to know where the new PDS is. Does that answer? 110
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 09/05/2026So far, I've shipped a password hand off, not a true sovereignty transfer. I do A right now and will take a few days to write the first full transfer as needed. My typical users are not very technical and probably won't ever want to move. More technical users use an existing account. 110
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 05/05/2026I don't know if I'm a programmer anymore... Claude has me mixed up 😅. But, I think atproto community counts, not just developers. Hailing from SDF here. I'll keep you posted 020
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 05/05/2026You didn't miss anything :) Only 2 RSVPd and we ended up not connecting in the end. We should try again. This time build the group first :) 000

Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 23/03/2026Correct, each user sees their own events plus the group events. Others won't see yours. What do you think would help make it more clear? I'm a poor designer 😅 110
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 23/03/2026We show the user's events (should be faded) on the group calendar so you can see any conflicts when deciding which events to attend. Any suggestions to improve on that intent, or should we just remove the personal events? 120
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 23/03/2026We're still in transition from a traditional app into an AT protocol app, and profiles haven't been unified fully, so this is kind of expected, but not nice. Captured at github.com/OpenMeet-Tea... and I'll try to get to it in the next few days. 010

Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 11/02/2026I've got some sidecar scripted together that looks at the bsky PDS db directly and exports for prometheus only what I think is important. Curious if there's already something out there for this. 000
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 10/02/2026Took a look, and I made a mistake in the example tenant. Use the following for the community instance: data-openmeet-tenant="lsdfaopkljdfs" 010
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 09/02/2026I'm out of commission this evening. Not an easy way. The one in the image on the GitHub issue is something like "lsd....". That's the right one for you. Will check it out tomorrow if I'm feeling better 100

Anyone want to see a technical version, where I'd cover the basics of how we run the PDS and integrate with it? Could cover things like monitoring the PDS and backups. Any value? 1156
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 07/02/2026For a simple meetup group, I'd recommend using the community instance at platform.openmeet.net. The plan is to keep that free and running forever, but funding is a real limitation. You can host an instance. It's not simple, but it's something I want to improve. 100
Tom @tompscanlan.bsky.social · 07/02/2026There's a REST api, so you could use that to do whatever you want with the events, including listing them in a calendar on your site. You'd rather have something you can embed? I'm wildly open here :) Talk me thru a scenario or two and let's figure it out. 200
