A fascinating happy accident. This photo is an accidental shot made at ISO 25600 on my Nikon Z7II with the 40mm f/2 lens. I think the lighter colored area might be my arm. After at first dismissing this photo I decided to post process it. I didn't do a lot with it, although I did use Lr Denoise.

We are halfway through our time in Paris, so I thought I'd check on my lens choices for this trip. I went with all primes for my Nikon Z7II. I've made 1517 frames in the first month. Below are the % by lens. No surprises. 28mm f/2.8: 4% 35mm f/1.8: 22% 40mm f/2: 44% 50mm f/1.8: 13% 85mm f/1.8: 17%

A Moving Weekend in Magnivray
American Military Cemetery at Epinal, France There is much I could write about in this blog post, including our continued explorations of the Petite Ceinture and our visit today to the exceptional Robert Capa photography exhibit at the Museum of the Liberation of Paris, but our weekend in Magnivray with our dear friends Andi and Bron must take top billing.

La Petite Ceinture and Parc des Buttes Chaumont
La Petite Ceinture Today I got out to explore a trail system I'd heard about from our friend, Ellen. The name of this trail system is La Petite Ceinture, which is French for The Small Belt. La Petite Ceinture was made by converting a disused rail belt which circles Paris. I actually blundered onto this trail on an earlier trip when I missed a turn on the Coulée Verte.

Beyond the end of the Coulée Verte. The Coulée Verte is a trail that runs east/west through the 12th arrondisement of Paris. It was made on an old railway line. Some of it is above grade and some is below grade. This is looking at what lies beyond the eastern terminus. Nikon Z7II w/40mm f/2.

One of the things I do when photographing at Pêre Lachaise is to document graves of people that I want to research later. This person, Adolfo Kaminsky, ought to have a movie made of his life. He became a master forger and helped save 14,000 Jews from death during the Holocaust. Look him up.

I’ve been using Nikon’s SnapBridge to geotag photos here in Paris. There are 3 accuracy settingoptions. Low updates your location every 5 minutes. Not much help. Med is every 1 minute. I thought that’d be fine, but in a place like Pêre Lachaise it’s not much help either. I’ve had to go with High.

Pêre Lachaise Stories And More…
Gorgeous Sunset I generally try to keep a twice a week cadence to our blog posts from Paris, so seeing as today is September 26 and I last posted on September 21, I guess I'd better get my rear in gear and write. The past few days have been relatively quiet. Priscilla and I did make an outing to Pêre Lachaise Cemetery, a couple days ago.

A made a return visit to Pêre Lachaise Cemetery today. On the way back I stopped again at the Paul Moreau-Vauthier wall sculpture. Supposedly the stones used to make this sculpture came from a wall at which 147 revolutionaries (called Communards) were executed in 1871. Nikon Z7II w/50mm f/1.8S.

I’m giving myself permission to photograph whatever catches my eye on this trip to Paris and not force myself to be a street photographer. If I see something interesting on the street involving people I’ll photograph it, but I’m not going to force it. Tombstone at Pêre Lachaise. Z7II w/85mm f/1.8S.
