Enjoying our new flowers before the season ends.

Tommy and Peter @tommyandpeter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

After a long, hot and incredibly dry summer, we finally got some proper rain 🌧️ And what a difference it made. The garden suddenly started looking greener and fresher, and even some flowers and veggies that we thought might not make it are getting another chance. Watch here: youtu.be/8WeP2pGnGJk

Good point. My mum used to collect stamps and my brother ice hockey cards. Peter and I used to collect Spice Girls CDs. No living creatures though 😃

That’s a very nice collection! Although I agree, I also prefer to collect them digitally 😊

The potato harvest has finally begun 😊 We dig up some potatoes, including the ones we planted in grass clippings, and see what else is ready in the garden. There are more things to be harvested and, of course, lots of flowers to make the days more beautiful. Watch here: youtu.be/eTu98pjh9w0

Late summer is still looking beautiful at the cottage, with flowers blooming everywhere despite the drought. We make a yummy savoury pastry, plant new trees and check on everything to see how everything is coping with the never-ending dry conditions. Watch the new vlog here: youtu.be/T9nNPiumcRg

This is Peter's parents' dog Dorka when she was a teenager. Recently she became a temporary new member of our household, spending a week with us 😊 We went for walks together, watched thunderstorms pass around us, and took a look at the dry woods. See it all in our new vlog! youtu.be/RAKegfLKI8k

New vlog is out! We harvested our first artichokes and it was time to find out what they actually taste like. We had never eaten a fresh artichoke before, so this was a bit of an experiment. And maybe not quite the lunch we were expecting 😀 Watch here: youtu.be/WaUIMG9LsXw

New vlog is out. We were dealing with another heatwave and the biggest problem of all - no rain. The garden is suffering, even though we've been watering everything we possibly can. We try our best to keep the garden and wildlife going through the drought. Watch here: youtu.be/_E7dl2AZIPw

The summer flowers are finally coming into their own, with marigolds, geraniums, zinnias and many other flowers starting to fill the garden with colour. Peter's parents come for a visit, and we make a yummy savory Central European treat 😊 Watch here: youtu.be/7-WBSet-4UY

Summer is in full swing in our garden, and despite the drought, there is still plenty happening. The sunflowers are blooming, we make our first sour cherry jam, and another batch of homemade wine is ready to move into the demijohn. Watch here: youtu.be/-cPqwGT9HsA

We're making another batch of homemade fruit wine using black and red currants from our garden. We show the whole process in today’s vlog, from crushing the berries and preparing the must to transferring the young wine into a demijohn a few weeks later. Watch here: youtu.be/4heAgPqjWqQ

New vlog is out. After late spring frosts, months of drought, and even a hailstorm, many of our fruit bushes are not looking their best. But we still harvest a big variety of berries. We also discover that birds have managed to build a nest on our house 😊 Watch here: youtu.be/9GmSl-aAhVw

Despite the bad weather this year (spring frosts, drought, hail) we still manage to pick a nice amount of various fruits – raspberries, black currants, sour cherries, red currants, gooseberries, jostaberries, saskatoons.

0121

Tommy and Peter @tommyandpeter.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

We love watching thunderstorms for lightning and heavy rain although we’re always worried about hail and strong wind 😃 We’ll grill more cheese soon for sure!

We were in the middle of an extreme heatwave. Even our little plunge barrel stopped being refreshing because the water got so warm! Peter's sister Monika came to visit, so we spent a few days trying to stay cool 🥵 And then we got hail that brought destruction. Watch here: youtu.be/2Y21HCVICqE

This summer has been incredibly dry here, and our garden is really feeling it. In today’s vlog we show how we're trying to keep our trees, shrubs and flowers alive during one of the driest seasons we've ever experienced at our cottage. Watch here: youtu.be/Zhb2WcODQug

We had a record season of honeyberries which we’re very happy about, especially since some other fruits were destroyed earlier by spring frosts. Now moving on to raspberries, currants and sour cherries 🍒

It’s a lot of work for everyone. We bought a new water pump a couple of years ago that’s in the well under water. It’s more efficient than the old one. We also collect rain water to water our yard.
