Now that I’m over seventy, I am understanding the thorough conditioning in bigotry I got as a kid. A cartoon with a black person in it? I look for a missionary boiling in a cauldron nearby. I meet a gay person. A dozen “jokes” from my childhood bubble up. Teaching kids bigotry is evil.
