Returning to the #TangerineDream DM series with no4, possibly the best of the lot, storming drum & bass remix of Rising Runner

@dearyband.bsky.social at a sold out @hareandhounds.bsky.social (hence the worse than usual photos) showing the Shoegaze revival is in full swing.

Moving onto the Dream Mixes 3: this is a bit more like it, some old classics given a slightly more conventional remix treatment, still v 90s Tangerine Dream though - lots of busy percussion, frequent tempo changes etc. Decent enough.

Tom Jones @tomjones1875.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

Having a quick blast through Tangerine Dream's Dream Mixes series, NP Vol 2, my least favorite of the collection as they're not really remixes at all just typical Jerome tracks of the era (late 90s). Pleasant enough but not particularly note worthy

Since the sun's out I was trying to think of the most summery #TangerineDream album for today's coffee tunes & plumped for the Dream Mixes. Can't say I'm a fan of TDs 90s music at all but this is pretty decent.

A bit more Clannad with Legend, I think it's fair to say their music took the show to another level, the album stands up in its right as well providing a magical soundtrack

Tom Jones @tomjones1875.bsky.social · 19/04/2026

#NP Fuaim - Clannad, amazing how Harry's Game could lead a 16 year old me deeply into synth pop & electronic music to listen to something like & not only that learn all the words to Lish Young Buy A Broom off by heart!

Tom Jones @tomjones1875.bsky.social · 16/04/2026

Playing a bit of Clannad tonight for obvious reasons, starting with Macalla, all a bit too Fleetwood Mac for me, in fact I bailed at this point, but it does include my favourite song of theirs, the exquisite Buachaill Ón Éirne

Continuing my Bill Nelson journey with David Sylvian's Gone to Earth on which he features on several tracks. Whilst I love Japan, dare I say it I always found Sylvian's solo stuff a bit dull, but this is nice enough for a Sunday morning.

Continuing my journey through #BillNelson's back catalogue with this gem from Masami Tsuchiya who provided guitar on Japan's last tour. Bill's all over this but he's in good company, it's quite the cast list.

Tom Jones @tomjones1875.bsky.social · 09/03/2026

Continuing with the Bill Nelson theme #NP the wonderful Love That Whirls. Let's hope this one favours better than the last cassette that jammed at the end of side 2

Tom Jones @tomjones1875.bsky.social · 08/03/2026

Saw a bit of a discussion about this on Facebook so thought I'd dig it out. Cracking album played it to death when I got it about 40 years ago 😬. God, cassettes are rubbish though but at least it was wound onto the right side for a change! #NP Quit Dreaming - Bill Nelson.

This morning's coffee tunes supplied by Manuel Gottsching & Micheal Hoenig, #NP Early Water. Given the sparsity of the latter's discography there must be some wonderful analogue synth goodies waiting to be discovered in his archives.

Can't talk about electronic music albums celebrating their 50th this year without mentioning perhaps the daddy of them all #NP Oxygene @jeanmicheljarre.bsky.social, leant heavily on Rubycon, Timewind & maybe a bit of Vangelis but took them in a more commercial direction to spectacular effect.

New year, new sound, and the start of a new album. “What You Are to Me” is a sunny, piano-forward synthpop anthem that falls somewhere between Howard Jones, Prefab Sprout, The Blue Nile, and Joe Jackson. Some things are impossible to say out loud. ffm.colortheory.com/whatyouaretome

Sticking with early 80s TD with Amiga/Quichotte. This was the pride of my collection at one point, only available as an expensive import. Pt2 is some of the most exhilarating sequencer/ guitar driven music they've done.

Tom Jones @tomjones1875.bsky.social · 30/11/2025

Having binged their late 90s/ early albums yesterday, felt compelled to dig this one out - Tangerine Dream live in Newcastle 1981, recorded a few days before I saw them in Brum (my very first gig).

030

Tom Jones @tomjones1875.bsky.social · 29/11/2025

Not much to do on this dreary day but drink coffee & play some tunes, starting with this gem - Force Majeure, Tangerine Dream at their most tuneful & proggy. Like stepping into a warm bath. Gorgeous especially with the added solo tracks in the Hades box set.

#NP Vangelis Heaven & Hell, 50 years old this week by all accounts confirming my view that 1975 was possibly the greatest year ever for classic electronic music.

NP Jeanne D'Arc #TangerineDream, hard to believe this was 20 years old last month. One of their better post millennial releases, even the sax is bearable.
