#WritersCoffeeClub Oct 7 Does your editing process tend towards addition or reduction? Mostly rearranging. I write as I think, but I am a bit scatter-brained. Editing requires making it read normal. #writing

#WordWeavers Oct 7 Share a line of dialogue that tells us everything we need to know about a character's personality. That distracted him from the realization that he missed the signs Sophia was giving him last night. He had been endowed with the mental antidote that left him oblivious. #writing

#writersCoffeeClub 10/6: What might an inattentive reader miss in your work? There's a plot. Really! There is! #writing

#WordWeavers 6. What is considered completely normal in your story's world that would seem bizarre to us? A spy novel without lots of explosions and shootings. James Bond would roll over in his grave. #writing

#WordWeavers Oct 5: If your characters had to swap lives for a week, which pairing would cause the most chaos? The mad scientist and the MC. The scientist is only effective when hammered. The MC is sober. Fun to watch a drug-fueled hero? Wait. We already had Hunter S. Thompson. #writing

#WritersCoffeeClub Oct 5: What haunts the narrative of your current work? The next conflict between the MC and the antagonists. I need it to be funnier. It seems too canned right now. #writing

#WordWeavers Oct 4 What is your MC's most irrational fear? Art. He really never understands it. #writing

#WritersCoffeeClub 10/4: "How isolated are your characters in your current WIP?" They're stuck in this book. Fortunately, they are sent all over the book's world. Of course, most long to return to Cleveland. #writing

#WordWeavers Oct 2 Other than novels, what types of writing do you do, such as poetry, screen plays, etc Grocery lists, checks, email replies. I get lots of compliments on my grocery lists. #writing

#writersCoffeeClub 9/28: Could you work without the internet? What would change? I started my WIP without using it. I would say that the research time would be longer, but this novel is many years in the making. I can't believe it would take any longer. #writing

#WordWeavers Authors talk about how smart their MCs or villains are, but have you ever written a slow-witted character? Many of the villains are not very smart. Just lucky. The MC is quite smart, but not very lucky. #writing

#WritersCoffeeClub Sept. 26: How does your faith feature in your works? My side WIP is based on the idea that all religions are right. We just don't listen very well. The humor is that the MC finds out the hard way. When he tries to tell people... it goes about as well as one would expect. #writing

#WritersCoffeeClub Sep 25: Talk about a communal writing project you worked on. How did it go? The only one I can think of was the dept mission statement. I was asked to craft it, then others wordsmithed it. I learned then others can't begin. #writing

#WordWeavers 9/23: Have your characters’ journeys affected your own life? If so, how? Just the opposite. My journeys tend to inspire scenes. "Hmmm... how can I use this trip to the grocery store in my WIP?" #writing

#WordWeavers Sep 16: If your MC were elected mayor of your own town, would you stay or move. Why? He's rarely home, so I don't think he would be very good at that. He does fight evil corporations, so there is that. #writing

#writersCoffeeClub 16. Is there a topic you could really use an expert’s help with? What is it? Women. And, don't suggest a woman because they keep it secret. Then, they have fun giving us men wrong answers for fun. #writing

#WordWeavers Sep 15 Your characters get one completely ordinary day with no villains, quests, murders, wars, prophecies, romantic disasters, or impending apocalypses. How do they spend it? Bored. Might as well catch a baseball game. #writing

#WritersCoffeeClub September 14: Have you ever read a work of fiction you felt was advertising something? Truthfully? The "weapons of mass destruction" narrative after September 11th. I don't mean this in the classical political sense. I just know hysterical reaction when I read it. #writing

#WordWeavers: 9/10 Share a description from your WIP that establishes atmosphere without explicitly naming the emotion. The decision to sabotage the showing with an overdose of laxatives should have been enough. No one would take D’Arte seriously. The 13 soiled works sold for $1.2 million. #writing
