Twice as many spoken contributions during your average year. I’m proud to have reached the milestone of 250 spoken contributions in just over two years. Compared to 754 by my predecessor’s 14 years in office, that’s more than double his yearly average.

The motion passed at Green Party Conf' actively undermines a 2-state solution, and does not address the rising threats of Islamophobia and Antisemitism here in the UK. This is a divisive motion that pours fuel on the fire of tensions in the UK, and will leave many British Jews feeling less safe.

Going back to basics on the original purpose of the triple lock with @mattchorley.bsky.social. If we want to tackle pensioner poverty and poverty across the board we need to target our resources better.

Tom Gordon MP @tomgordonld.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
We already have pension credit - if the desired aim to reduce pension poverty - target the money where it is needed, rather than an above inflationary increase for all.

Tom Gordon MP @tomgordonld.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
In the thread I literally say we should be tackling pensioner poverty and target support to stop it. That makes more sense than handing out above inflationary increases to everyone. On your latter point, what a load of absolutely baseless nonsense.

Most millennials don’t think there will be a state pension when they retire so this isn’t being done with them in mind Pensioners will gain more from free social care than a linking rise of state pension to earnings Proud of triple lock in coalition but we must plan for future not venerate the past

‘For the birds’: Lib Dem MP tells Ed Davey to ‘think again’ on triple lock defence - Politics.co.uk
A Liberal Democrat MP has criticised Ed Davey over the party’s position on the pension triple lock, saying the argument that it should be kept to help millennials is “at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting”. In a post on X, Tom Gordon said he had listened to Davey on BBC Radio […]

I joined this party because I care about fairness and tackling inequality, and that has to include inequality between generations. This line, and this decision, fails on both counts. Ed needs to think again.

We're locked out of the housing market, paying higher taxes, repaying student loans that never seem to shrink, and putting off having children because of the cost of living.

Tom Gordon MP @tomgordonld.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Telling millennials we're keeping the triple lock to help us in 30 years' time is nonsense. We're on course to be the first generation worse off than our parents.
10583
Tom Gordon MP @tomgordonld.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Ed is right that we shouldn't pit one generation against another. But intergenerational inequality is already one of the defining injustices of our time, and this would further entrench it. Worse, it gaslights an entire generation into believing it's for our benefit.

That money should go where it's needed most - to everyone in poverty, not just one group. It could help fund free personal care, a policy that would disproportionately benefit older people.

Tom Gordon MP @tomgordonld.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
We talk about fairness, yet our answer is to give the same increase to every pensioner, treating the one choosing between heating and eating exactly the same as the one with millions in the bank. I can see no moral or fiscal case for above inflation rises for millionaires.

Tom Gordon MP @tomgordonld.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The case for the triple lock is a worthy one - stopping pensioner poverty. I want that as much as anyone. But pensioners are now less likely to be in poverty than children or working age adults.

I listened to Ed Davey on the Today programme this morning, and frankly, I think he missed the point. The idea that we're keeping the triple lock to help millennials is at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting. I say that as a millennial.

A bit ago I found the unthinkable happening - I agreed with Richard Tice live on TV! Yet since then, he seems to have changed his tune on proportional representation. If we want a fairer society, that starts with a fairer voting system. My values and principles haven’t changed. Why have Reform’s?

Student finance is uncomfortable territory for Lib Dem’s, but we can't just bury our heads in the sand. Those of us in positions of responsibility have a duty to fix what's broken, even when it's uncomfortable. My piece for Lib Dem Voice👇 www.libdemvoice.org/winning-back...

It was a privilege to speak at today’s Aircraft Cabin Air Conference, where I spoke about the APPG on Cabin Air Quality’s interim report. Great to talk with pilots, cabin crew, and campaigners all working on this issue - and to set out what our inquiry has found so far.

Graduates are being ripped off. The student loan system is unfair and unsustainable. I'm proud to sponsor this Bill led by my colleague @tomgordonld.bsky.social that will require the government to review how student loans are repaid in England.

🇬🇧 Looking forward to seeing the Student Finance (Review) Bill by @tomgordonld.bsky.social discussed in Parliament tomorrow. It will require the government to review how student loans are repaid in England, including the repayment thresholds and the terms attached to loans when they were taken out.

Touring @roostersbrewco.bsky.social and learning just how much hard graft and expertise go into our independent breweries. The beer sector has the potential to be our crowning jewel but only if we cut the red tape and make sure they get access to the right markets.

✂️ Cut VAT for hospitality, accommodation and attractions temporarily. Boost footfall and help businesses and customers. 🧾 Replace business rates with a Commercial Landowner Levy. Move that burden and stop penalising productive businesses. 😮‍💨Give councils proper powers to tackle illicit vape shops.

This is a huge win for the disabled community. I spoke to Carolyn Quinn about the long-fought campaign to scrap time restrictions on disabled bus passes so they can be used during on peak hours. It’s good to see cooperation from Government on what matters to people with disabilities.

Disabilities don't start at 9:30am. For years, disabled bus pass holders could only travel free between 9:30am and 11pm on weekdays, shutting many people out of getting to work on time. That's changing, thanks to the tireless campaigning of my Lib Dem colleague Tom Gordon MP.
