I don't have high hopes at all for this turning out well, but letting Claude have a go at editing a video in Final Cut Pro via SpliceKit. Had to laugh at its "Phase 1" discovery... I think I had stubbed my toe. The full plan it layed out was 6 phases long.

Everything from the start through 9:03 is restarts. Speaker explicitely says "Restart.", forgets lights, abandons mid-sentence, swears ("Ah fuck. Damn It.") and has a ~32s dead pause. The final clean take begins at word index 1859 ("If", 9:03).

Also, while I'm mostly taking some time away from coding during the holidays, I did add thumbnail extraction to the workflow and backfilled it to all pre-existing lessons on R2! Meaning, as you scrub through the video timeline, the player will now show image previews.

The SRT translation step of my video workflow has had some form of hangup in it, causing it to take up to an hour. I let it linger for a few months, but I finally took the time to fix it today and can now translate to 6 languages in under a minute! Now maybe I can finally move all my videos to R2.

Just added AI-generated video chapters to the Adocasts CMS using a custom AdonisJS-filled RAG via Cloudflare's AI Search! > Fetches the SRT from R2 > Feeds the SRT into AI Search with a chapter-focused prompt > Returns it in the exact format needed for my form [chef's kiss]

Added a new transcribe & translate feature to my transcoder app so I don't need to do these two steps as manual processes prior to uploading now. 👍 Just need to verify this matches the quality of my current workflow, then I can add the final upload to R2 step.

Got the output from the transcoder app I've been working on loaded into Cloudflare R2 and: 1. Integrated an HLS player on the Adocasts Site 2. Added caption & chapter inputs on the CMS 3. Added a worker for protected read access (wip) Got a little too into this and forgot to make some vids 😅

Almost there! Just need to: - Actually cancel the ffmpeg process if it is running on cancellation - See about uploading the final result to Cloudflare R2 (might decide against integrating that directly into the app)

Little more progress today! I sideloaded a NodeJS console app, which performs the transcoding via ffmpeg, and have the stdout printing into an info panel. Goal is to just get it working & usable, then I'll take a look at learning a little Rust to get rid of sideloading Node.

Video transcoder app that allows for file/folder selection and an output folder selection. Transcoding results are printed in a black box.

Tried Tauri for the first time tonight. I was mostly messing around and didn't get to far, but I was able to whip up a simple file queue pretty quickly! It doesn't currently do anything, but I think you can see my end goal.

A desktop app built with Tauri that allows adding files or a folder's files to a queue.

With Bunny Stream, I had to add a second replication point in the US to get sufficient non-cached speeds, which takes storage price for them to $0.02/GB. I'm thinking that wouldn't be needed for R2, can't find specifics, but I don't think that's an issue for Cloudflare.

Taking another look at video hosting/streaming solutions and I'm debating on whether it'd be fruitful to switch from Bunny Stream to Cloudflare R2 with a custom HLS player integration. For storage Cloudflare is $0.015/GB Bunny Stream is $0.01/GB (for one replication point) 🧵

Sequoia's Mission Control is going to be such a nice improvement switching between text editor & browser during recordings! With Cmd + Tab my reference materials on the 2nd screen, using these same 2 apps, often steal the focus.

The schedule will soon be back up and running on the Adocasts site. We'll now be using the PlotMyCourse API in place of Notion. Love that I can now show the lesson status instead of the module status, shown currently. BTW, the PlotMyCourse API is what we'll build in API Development with AdonisJS
