He can fuck all the way off. Canadian here, and the roaring of the crowd more even than his stupid and offensive comments hardens my resolve. Not buying a fucking thing made in the USA, nor spending a dime there on vacation for a lot longer than it takes for him to go. I'll be among friends.

I worked child welfare for awhile; I'm well aware of the severe pain many carry. But also aware that unresolved pain is inflicted on future generations. And damages current relationships. Health means feeling the feeling, and then doing the various work to let it stop. Let others be freed from it.

No, I'm not about to stop supporting. Among other things, I'm aware how living with pain or abuse shapes a person, without one's intention or consent. Anger is code-switched pain. Other folks though may not have the life experience for that. And the actions even of people in pain have consequences.

I absolutely support the issues. Actively. Raised a daughter and 2 sons who are also active supporters. Part of women's legit anger is about being treated like shit, and being expected to smile and take it. It's wrong. It's wrong when the shoe's on the other foot too, however righteous it feels.

None of us get to determine that someone is ineligible to notice us when we go in public. We can't dress in day-glow orange and be furious that this person we intended to see us did, but so did another person a few feet away. Our public self expression is public, eh? Kinda like social media posts.

Why do you imagine I'd disagree, if you've read what I've written? IMO though, we each of us give implicit "consent" to be noticed by stepping out our front doors. Not to be raped or catcalled, but noticed. If I choose to wear brilliant fire engine red, I implicitly *invite* more notice.

Me too. Sweats or shorts and a T. My daughter and her team mates similarly, when they did off season training as rowers. There is a type of male lifter who's there to build visible muscles, and spends time flexing. They'll wear what will show biceps and delts. 😁 In my experience, some women too.

Fair - explain it to me? I've been around gyms for about 50 years. Some guys train for athletics, many for aesthetics. Their clothes reflect why they're there. A powerlifter or Oly lifter will be in shorts or sweats and a T. Bodybuilders will dress for the mirror. What prompts women's choices?

I assume that women wear what they can buy that they like. That there's self expression, mixed with meeting social expectations. There's individual variation, but considering how cognitive psychology shows lots of common ground among humans, it'd be surprising if women fully diverged from men.

Because the psychiatrists who'd be responsible for determining whether a person is eligible or ineligible for MAID based solely on mental illness have spent their lives working to prevent their patients' suicides. And pushed back *hard* at having the focus of their discipline dramatically changed.

I said at the outset that I agreed with much of the criticism of Gillis. My first words. You sure you want to assume I'm slobbering over women or calling them whores? A great way to drive away allies.

Yup. But the questions I've raised are ones my wife and daughter have raised with me. Daughter was a rower - while rowing singlets are largely male/female identical, what she saw in the weight room wasn't.

I agree with most of the criticism of Gillis. But it's worth asking why women's athletic clothes, from the gym to the Olympics, are styled for sexiness over function. Guys wear Lycra & shirts with sleeves ripped off to draw attention. Self-objectification. Women in tiny day-glow Lycra stuff differ?

Zelensky is at war with a guy who's trying to make his country non-existent. Hitting data centers is utterly fair. As is hitting refineries, and anything else which supports Russia's war effort.

Executions are grim; we shouldn't do them. OTOH I've long mused that we've meat industry tech claimed as humane, simple, and certain. Recall that guillotines were invented by humanitarians, eh? If we're squeamish about all the human (rather than cow or pig) blood, maybe we shouldn't kill people.

Are you aware that for decades now, women have outnumbered men in medical schools?

I taught karate for awhile. The teen female students often had a far better idea of how to move their bodies in space, but usually gave up about 40# in body weight to males. That's a whole lot, and technique won't make it up. Teach jiu jitsu instead - choking someone out isn't as mass dependent.

Fwiw, my late sister in law repeatedly experienced (and sometimes administered) physical violence within some of her lesbian relationships. Over a 50 year period. That said, I agree; biology being on average what it is, men inflict a lot more, and more severe damage.

By the same token, you have no idea how angry many men like me are over the same issues. With that anger being immediately questioned and dismissed as some "not all men" meme. You've got a lot of allies. Really.

I'm waiting to see the midterms, and whether Americans rise up when Trump rigs them or claims rigging. I've many American friends who are appalled, yet America elected him a second time, knowing about the first time. Hearing the campaign speech warnings. Germany early '30s vibes and proportions.

I haven't knowingly or willingly bought anything made in America for about 18 months, since the nonsense about the 51st State began. It's not that American products aren't on the shelves, or that I don't support American workers. It's that I support Canadian sovereignty.

Doing music with small groups of people is some of the very best fun I've ever had. Classical, blues, vocal, whatever. As a retired guy, I've taken up cello again after 4 decades away. And it's brilliant. Better than in my 20s, when I tried to make enough $ at it to pay rent.

I can't figure why millions aren't nightly in the streets, like in allegedly lesser places with oppressive governments. What happened to make Americans less courageous than, say, Albanians?

The issue is that you elected him twice, didn't remove him either time, or effectively prosecute him for crimes. I mean, both South Korea and Brazil recently did better when their Presidents or former Presidents attempted coups. It's part of why Trump has turned on South Korea and Brazil, eh?

I grew up in Sault Sainte Marie, and the locks there between lakes Superior and Huron are on the Canadian side too. A whole lot of US cargo goes through the locks on the upper lakes.

My suggestion is to cancel your subscription to any media company that refers to Lake Ontario as Lake America.

He can't change the name of our shared lake. He can call it whatever he wants, but it's not his. I grew up in Ontario, by lake Ontario. It was named by indigenous people before we got here.

I worked in intergovernmental relations. The public facing meetings were for describing final positions for public accountability and media; the real work always happened in private. Negotiations need room to breathe. Remember the adage about nobody wanting to see how policy or sausage is made.

Dems and independents will hold Jeffries responsible if Congress gets nothing done for the next 2 years. Even a flipped Senate won't be Filibuster proof. Jeffries will be held accountable for delivering what Americans need, not just blocking Trump. Unfair? Yeah. True? Also yeah.

Duffy might want to consider that Canada has a large ethnic Ukrainian population. We'll resist aggression from a large neighbour more than you bargain for. And I suspect annexation would be a very hard sell to most Americans. Certainly to my American friends and relatives.

If anyone in my life was constantly posting stuff like this I'd help mount a mental health intervention. Even if they claimed somehow that it was just a joke. Especially if they also were on a tear to make over the family real estate to satisfy a Napoleon complex. Nobody in his life loves him.
