I’m trying really hard to keep an open mind, but seeing poor people continuing to get the short end of the stick really bothers me, especially when the campaign rhetoric was to help New Yorkers getting crushed by all this.

Honestly, I grow more cynical everyday. Mayor Mamdani set himself up like he was going to fix it. Proposing cuts to NYC FHEPS in the budget and denying rental assistance for poor people facing eviction gets me wondering if this is just another case of politicians saying whatever gets them elected.

We have an affordability crisis, yet here we are…

Great day for a swim or sunbathing at The Floating Pool Lady! The Bronx has some AMAZING hidden gems! 2 sessions. 11-3 and 4-7. Free to the public.

What exactly does “more qualified candidates” even mean? Not a good look that politicians making $150K + per year are crying they need higher wages to keep up with inflation when the average median household income in NYC is $74K citywide and $46K in the Bronx.

The American government doesn’t have to contribute? Please tell me why would any country or group of countries pick up a $300B tab for America bombing Iran?

000

Tom Sheppard @tomcsheppard.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

Why is it that we never seem to have money when it comes to supporting healthcare, education, and affordability for the American people, but can pull $300B+ out of thin air yet again to rebuild a country that we shouldn’t have bombed in the first place?

Tom Sheppard @tomcsheppard.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

True accountability happens when communities are able to weigh and leaders are able to make the “why it should be me” case. What we have now is a fundamental distrust between communities and politicians, with people being put into a trick bag of voting with their feet instead of with an actual vote.

010

Tom Sheppard @tomcsheppard.bsky.social · 13/06/2026

Couldn’t agree more. What we’re witnessing yet again is a fundamental flaw with Mayoral Control. The choice for who leads a public school system shouldn’t live with a single individual with biases and a limited set of facts. It needs to live with a community who is impacted by that decision.

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social I don’t understand why having Mayoral Control is necessary to launch universal child care or reduce class sizes when the vast majority of parents already want both. Control is usually needed when something is unpopular and the goal is to bypass the consent of the people.

This is a trap to make not having an education acceptable. Especially at a time when we need teachers, doctors, lawyers, and other professionally trained people. Don't fall for it.

Please consider Bronx parents for Education Committee and Bronx families, especially those impacted by ongoing apartment fires and deplorable conditions who live in NYCHA, for Housing Committee.

Tom Sheppard @tomcsheppard.bsky.social · 25/11/2025

I appreciate having the public be a part of this. That said, The Bronx is not well represented on these Transition Committees, especially in two major areas: Education and Housing. We live with the impacts of decisions that come out of these spaces, but are not invited to be a part of the process.

18 years ago today, Aaliyah, my #EarlyShow 28-week, 2 lb. #MiracleBabyNetwork daughter was born. I remember being worried that being born preemie like that, she wasn't going to make it. She's an adult in college now, so I’m really thankful that God had different plans! ❤️🥰🎉🎂

Tonight we honored a family of schools that has served the NE Bronx for 60 YEARS! Susan E. Wagner is where I first found my voice and where I first stepped up to serve as an advocate and #HeadStartParent. It has been an honor to serve on the Board for the past 11 years. #MaggieAlston #JoyceJames

Yo fam you might want to go back and read the date on that before you start taking shots. That was the 2024 primary. I had a hard time voting for a President complicit in genocide. That said, the DNC made the choice for us at the convention & I certainly voted for VP Harris in the general election.

And speaking of hypocrisy… should we also rip Cuomo for maintaining US citizenship, citing our country’s “it’s not lawful to commit sexual harassment” policy?

010

Tom Sheppard @tomcsheppard.bsky.social · 30/09/2025

While SCOTUS has telegraphed that the President has broad immunity, I’m certain that service members have no such luxury.

000

Tom Sheppard @tomcsheppard.bsky.social · 30/09/2025

Under Article 92 of the UCMJ, an order is unlawful if it directs a service member to commit a crime, violates the U.S. Constitution, U.S. laws, or military regulations, especially targeting civilians, and service members have a duty to disobey such orders.

For really the first time in 5 years on the PEP and another 2 on CEC 11, and since I’m now in the “Former School Board Members Club”, I’m going to sit this month out. Instead, I’m going out with my camera for the 1st time since 2019 to do some “recreational shooting”…
