Today's harvest...
A mix of cherry tomatoes, early girls, and beefsteaks, alongside a lone cucumber from our garden.

Wasn't expecting this guy to make an appearance in my family tree... 😬
A screenshot of part of my family tree on Ancestry.com, showing that Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of England and one of the most hated men in Irish history, is my 10th great grandfather.

I feel like @anildash.com really sums up corporate AI-use mandates so well: www.anildash.com/2025/04/19/a...
"AI is really good for helping you if you're bad at something, or at least below average. But it's probably not the right tool if you're great at something. So why would these CEOs be saying, almost all using the exact same phrasing, that everyone at their companies should be using these tools? Do the think their employees are all bad at their jobs?"

This is a worthwhile read for anyone exhausted from the endless tail-chasing of personal brand-building and marketing themselves constantly across social media: www.chrbutler.com/you-can-be-a...
"The next time you use something that works so well you barely notice it, remember that somewhere, a designer solved a problem so thoroughly that both the problem and its solution became invisible. That designer might not be famous, might not have thousands of followers, might not be invited to speak at conferences — but they’ve achieved something remarkable: greatness through invisibility."

I don't care if you're a Democratic candidate (even a progressive one) if your strategy is to just bombard my inbox. I never signed up for these, and it JUST. KEEPS. COMING. Seriously @gayforcongress.bsky.social treat supporters with a modicum of respect, because it's just turning people off.

It's encouraging to see iStock explicitly noting that search results (at least in this case) do not include any AI-generated content. Finding decent royalty free stock photos and illustrations that you can be confident aren't AI-generated is a pain in the ass.

Finally, you can check out a bunch of my product design work from the past decade on my portfolio site, which I just updated with fresh case studies for a couple of really cool projects I was a part of over the last year - Treasury and Bindings. Check it out! tomcarmony.com
Example screenshots of Bindings, a brand new preview and marketing app for comics creators to share and promote their work on social media and the web. Example screenshots of Treasury, a collaborative investing app that partners with financial influencers to build and educate communities of new investors, helping them understand investing basics and setting them up for long-term growth and success.

Today's NYTimes Opinion round-up was the (long overdue) last straw for me. Cancelled and adding the savings to bump both my @propublica.org and @theguardian.com support.
A cropped screenshot from a NY Times Opinion piece where a roundtable of writers rated the Trump administration's dismantling of DEI efforts as a "positive impact", and anti-trans changes as "less consequential". A screenshot of my subscription cancelling confirmation email from the New York Times. Good riddance.

Not only that, but we’re also launching a SWEET (see what I did there?) new Patreon integration in the coming weeks. It allows users to preview (and join!) your Patreon right from Bindings! Believe me, it’s all kinds of hotness. Hit us up @sweetdotdev.bsky.social if you want to beta test that one!
The new Patreon integration coming soon to Bindings.app

Lots more fun and excitement with the @sweetdotdev.bsky.social crew, as we’re mid-way through Sweet Week, with daily drops and announcements. Today it’s a bundle of new features for Bindings, our marketing platform for comic creators. #comics #comicbooks #webtoon

I've seen plenty of comparisons here about Will Ospreay's questionable new haircut, but no one nailed it quite like my kid: "Did he ask for the DiCaprio Titanic haircut?" #aew #aewdynamite #wrestlesky

And last but certainly not least (don’t tell him he’s last or he’ll kill me), the ornery middle child, our wheaten terrier Guster Gustav.

Gotta share Phineas’s big brother Stewart Nenninger, the elder statesman of our pack. #OES #OldEnglishSheepdogs

I don’t think I’d really feel settled in here until posting pupper pics, so here we go. A little Phineas the Sheepdog to end another cruddy week on a good note!
