A boy in a frog t-shirt points at a woman. The caption reads "You think this is some game? Sadness literally surrounds you." From the anime Dokonjō Gaeru.

Are there other episodes that are a good example of it?

This is literally the only episode I've bothered revisiting, and it's decent at least. It is a pretty good-looking show relatively speaking. This episode is is admittedly bogged down by some potentially insensitive portrayals of voodoo though.

I don't know if "frightening" is the right word but I definitely remember this episode of Mighty Max freaking me out. Images from this stuck with me well into adulthood when I rediscovered the actual episode. Turns out it also happened to be an early introduction to Lovecraftian horror.
Title card from Mighty Max episode "The Mother of All Adventures."A blue Cthulhu-esque idol atop a square pedestal inscribed with an alien language.A swarm of tentacled, spiny bug-like creatures rain down from an opened attic panel.Max's mother stares vacantly, zombie-like, with a tentacled bug embedded into the back of her neck.

After a years long search for a copy, Mad Angler Press would like to formally introduce a 4K/HD scan of GUNSIGHT Phase 0, a text that is a cornerstone as to how we understand Mobile Suit Gundam's lore today. To view the text, please visit below:
The front cover of GUNSIGHT - Phase 0, illustrated by a young Haruhiko Mikimoto, in 1979. Gunsight served as the bedrock for understanding lore about 0079's universe and Mobile Suit Gundam and was released during Comiket 13. The text served as the basis for canonizing said lore for Gundam Century, was read actively by Studio II and Sunrise staff, praised by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, and has become indefinitely rare to acquire.

Scanned and uploaded for the first time in history by Mad Angler Press and Chris de la Bigne, for insight into your future.

I remember listening to an interview Funkmaster Flex was doing with somebody a few years ago (don't recall who with, maybe someone from Wu-Tang?) and he mentioned how it didn't seem like new rappers referenced comics or the like anymore, and I was like "??? Like everybody has a bar about Goku now"

You ever see Halloween III? Apparently Kneale was involved early on, though he doesn't show up in the credits if I recall. You can feel his influence for sure.

Just started the Amicus Vault of Horror movie and not only is there no Vault Keeper, apparently there's not a single story actually adapted from the VoH comic in this thing.

Finally. I feel like the arcade version was much harder than the TG16 port for some reason. Last time I played the port I kind of breezed through, but I had a ton of trouble on Stage V on the arcade original.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

He's not the actual director, but still! Do I have him to blame for there being no invincibility after you respawn? Because I'm sorry, in an arcade game that is complete bullshit

I'm sorry, this crummy SD Gundam arcade game was designed by WHO!?
Enroll for SD Gundam: Rainbow Wars. Kenji Eno (of D fame) is credited as Designer.

Yeah, but those would only work on the PSX core is my understanding. You wouldn't be able to hook a guncon up to the PSX controller ports and use them on arcade House of the Dead or something.

Starting the segment "The Weird Tailor" and I was struck with such deja vu, I KNEW I'd seen it somewhere in my plunge into anthology horror TV... sure enough, it was previously adapted as part of Boris Karloff's Thriller!!

Anyway looks like "Asylum" is adapting more Robert Bloch stories so I'm very much game. Amicus did 7 of these (with two others that are kind of spiritually part of the series) and three of them are Bloch adapting his own work.

I'm currently questing through the Amicus horror anthologies, and they're just all over the place streaming-wise. A third I can watch on Tubi, a third on Hoopla, and like a third just aren't legitimately streaming anyplace.

Looking for old horror films now just leads to constant reminders of how shit things are. Watching ad-supported streaming? Nothing but gambling ads. Checking YouTube? Get stunlocked by hideous AI thumbnails. How is it watching movies on shady Russian social media sites has become the best option?
