TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 23/09/202692. Yakuza 3 I think I preferred the plot of this one given how absurd it gets, but after the Kiwami games I did miss all the extra side content outside of substories which made this experience feel shorter. But that means it's tight and still enjoyable. Enemies just need to stop blocking so much! 000 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 23/09/202691. Lanterns (Ep. 6) I love that I have no idea where this show is going. I heard the episodes have been shifted around in order and I think the order we've got works very well. Guy Gardner is a fun addition, allowing him to stretch his character, and the sombre tone fits the rest of the mystery. 101 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 23/09/202690. Green Lantern: First Flight Oh, okay, I guess I do like Green Lantern after all. While not ground breaking, this is a pretty solid origin story that works well as a whistle stop tour for the basics of Green Lantern. Sinestro steals the film though. I also appreciate how dark this got. Not bad. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 17/09/202689. Firefly Sure enough, I'm gutted how short-lived this was. These characters are way too human and three-dimensional to be stuck in one season. This world is too creative and thought out, the charm too enticing, the variety of tone and setting across each episode is too fun. I need more... 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 17/09/202688. Lanterns (Ep. 5) Wow, that felt like a finale. Now I'm really not sure where the story is headed, ballsy to end the 2016 story this early with still half a season left. Seperating the duo right after showing them together is a fun spin and Hal Jordan steals the show with a peak action sequence. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 17/09/202687. Spy x Family (Season 3) BIG step up in terms of balancing wacky cute episodic fun with the serious emotional world building drama. Loid's backstory and the bus highjacking are two of the best arcs, quite surprised how deep they went. Would've liked more family unit stories but we had the film. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 17/09/202686. Lanterns (Ep. 4) Probably the most exciting so far and the one that delivers on the what the show set out to do. Be a fun and engaging detective duo drama with Hal and John. Great twists and turns where you never quite know the direction either the show or the characters themselves are going. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 10/09/202685. A Knight's Tale Just goes to show how an exceedingly charming cast elevate a story that could come off as generic (hey, it was written in the 1300's) but it's infectiously enjoyable, knowing when to apply the right about of pressure on the light hearted tone. Paul Bettany's finest hour. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 09/09/202684. Lanterns (Ep. 3) Did not expect an episode like this this early on. Basically just John's entire backstory out the gate. It's nice to explore a darker side to this story, which already adds further context to the strained relationship between John and Hal. The most interesting episode so far. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 09/09/202683. Cheers (Season 3) Dr. Frasier Crane makes his debut and sure highjacks the first half of his season. It seems a bit at odds with what it wants to do with Sam and Diane, but the two flourish best when not a thing. Cliff and Norm are cemented as a fun duo but it's sad to see Coach die off-screen. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 09/09/202682. Spy x Family: Code White While it could risk just being a feature length episode, it is surreal to see these characters in a higher stakes adventure that does make strong use of the core protagonists in a fairly balanced way. It comes to a heartwarming and satisfying end too. Onto season 3! 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 02/09/202681. Yakuza Kiwami 2 A big jump in engine makes for a more polished experience with a stronger story, better sense of progression and sleaker graphics. The side content is addicting as always, can't believe the club is back! The Majima side-plot is short but emotionally satisfying too. A good time! 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 01/09/202680. Coyote vs. Acme Thrilled we finally got to see this gem that tries way harder than it needed to, delivering a heartfelt, meaningful, sincere good time with strong themes and applies clever methodology to such iconic characters. The animation is a bit rough but it's a miracle we got this at all! 120 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 27/08/202679. Lanterns (Ep. 2) Kyle Chandler is killing it, pitch perfect casting. Steals every scene he's in. It's also fun to see John and Hal seperated too, really getting a nice dive into how the operate. Lots of good visual story telling, some subtle too. Feels like an actual TV show than a long film. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 26/08/202678. Lanterns (Ep. 1) Surprised how quickly this engaged me. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre are an excellent duo and bring so much character with this out the gate. Already my favourite Hal Jordan. The detective show angle is also a very fun way to ease us into a grounded side of the DCU. Not bad. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 25/08/202677. X-Men '97 (Season 2) While still a banger with strong emotional intelligence and thematic resonance, it's just too short. It rushes through things that could've taken a few episodes to explore. The shift from seralised story telling made the stakes feel smaller. But still X-cellent overall. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 02/08/202676. The Salt Path Real life controversy aside, I was kind of hoping there would be more of a journey here. They don't even make it to the turn around at Lands End so it feels like it stops very suddenly. It's a gentle watch but just, yeah, doesn't stimulate much. Fun for the actors I'm sure though. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 02/08/202675. Spider-Man: Brand New Day A SPECTACULAR Spider-Man film. Gorgeous new direction brings him to life with Holland at his best. Throwing out key dangling fanservice to focus on telling a rich, gut punching story is a god send. Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal also deliver strong supports. Peak banger. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 02/08/202674. Into The Wild Objectively a very well made film with an incredible supporting cast (Hal Holbrook is INSANELY good) but a deeply infuriating protagonist just breaks the tale for me. I can't tell if the film is romanticising a broken ideology or making it an example of arrogance, but still solid. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 02/08/202673. Apex Pretty generic affair that, while the director and actors are doing well (Taron Egerton clearly having a ball), the writing is sloppy and all of the place. Tries to have it's cake and eat it. Looks great with beautiful environments but too many poor choices. Believe the kids call it "mid". 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 02/08/202672. Speak No Evil Surprisingly strong thriller with some great performances, especially James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis, that builds up some good foreshadowing from the onset. It keeps it's hand close to the chest just long though to become invested before the chaos begins and keeps you guessing. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 22/07/202671. Goof Troop At it's best when Goofy and Pete are dragged through an exaggerated idea. At it's worst when it plays it too straight and Goofy is on the sidelines. Pete is hilarious and steals the show, for better or worse, but I'm sure he has more screentime than Goofy. Mixed bag but fun overall. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 21/07/2026People were showing off Switch 2 physical collections a year in. Banger after banger honesty. 1123 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 19/07/202670. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Throughly engaging, immersive and delivers on bringing to life such iconic moments from the classic...until the nigh incomprehensible ending nearly tears it apart. Still, I love this 9/10 banger with strong characters and gameplay across a rich world. Tifa is my queen. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 19/07/202669. The Odyssey Sure enough, another excellent film from Nolan. Matt Damon delivers one of the best performances of his career in this subtly clever and fresh take on the classic tale that holds it's cards close to the chest all the way to the end for a full circle moment. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 08/07/202668. Masters of the Universe Legitimately the most fun I've had in the cinema all year. Bursting at the seams with charm, laughs, strong visual style, phenomenal score and a cast who go all in on bringing He-Man to life. No compromises, pure fun. Skeletor is my everything and killed me every second. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 08/07/202667. Speed Racer Absolutely batshit insane but I kind of have to respect it. Such a striking, one of a kind visual style and direction which clearly has a lot of respect for the source material. Maybe a bit too goofy and kiddy in places but the action is second to none. Very confident film. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 04/07/202666. Cheers (Season 2) While it started a bit slow with Sam and Diane's relationship taking them out of the fun, it shifts gears halfway through by beefing up the role of the supporting cast and allowing everyone a taste of the spotlight. Especially Carla and Cliff who needed it. Nice to see. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 04/07/202665. Supergirl Millie Alcock more than delivers as a kickass superhero with rich depth and personality. Wish she was in a cooler film. It's not bad, but it's just not great. Inoffensive and safe but doesn't excel at much. Lobo is cool, the action is fun but that's about as far as it goes. It's fine. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 03/07/202664. Shōgun A magnificent series held up by a plethora of fantastic performances, detailed and stand out production design and flows remarkably well. There never felt like a dull moment with even scenes that don't drive the narrative working well to flesh out characters. Top tier television. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 03/07/202663. The Bad Guys 2 Somehow the already great animation got a glow up with more abstract and varied styles. A worthy follow up that balances old and new characters well while leading to one hell of a third act. While I miss the jazzy finesse of the first, this is still a fun time. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 28/06/202662. Toy Story 5 While not as adventurous as previous ones, it still has that same clever heart and imagination. Finally giving Jessie the spotlight was the perfect direction to go and the way it handles tech around children is a super important lesson. The Hi-Tech Buzzes were my highlights. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 27/06/202661. Star Fox Ohh, that's the stuff right there! Taking one of the most replayable Nintendo games and giving it a beautiful paint job, plus a highly addictive challenge mode and very satisfying multiplayer. Boss voices are lacking but the cutscenes and subtle tweaks are very welcome indeed. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 27/06/202660. DELTARUNE: Chapter 5 I originally wasn't AS won over by this one but slowly it did start to win me over. It felt a bit more simple than the previous 2 but its the calm before the storm. Stuff with Noelle is great, Ralsei finally gets the spotlight and the flowers ultimately are fun. Good stuff. 110 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 22/06/202659. Disclosure Day It's nice to see Spielberg make a film he clearly actually wanted to. This felt like such a FILM film with strong visual story telling and abstract concepts that, while not holding your hand, makes it clearly through filmmaking how this world building works. Emily Blunt aces it. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 22/06/202658. Spider-Noir They nailed the style of this. Beautiful sets, striking cinematography and creative lighting coupled with an ensemble cast who all understood the assignment. Nicolas Cage was born to be a noir detective. It's nice that it feels like a TV show too, not a long film. Hope we get more. 210 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 16/06/202657. Tip Toe A TERRIFYING look at the regressed society we're finding ourselves deeper in. Two incredible lead performances, and stand out supports including Iz Hesketh and Paul Rhys. Gripping, distressing and harrowing, the ending still haunts me. This is the biting, angry content we need. 100 0
TomatoGhost @tomatoghost.bsky.social · 16/06/202656. The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act A deeply satisfying and natural ending that went exactly where I hoped this story would go. Licensed music was a bit jarring, but the compelling writing, strong voice acting and bittersweet tone make me look back on the entire show fondly. What a ride. 110 0
