A year ago, building a custom tool for one library upgrade would've been a waste of time. With agents, the math flips. Things not worth building before are suddenly worth it: run once, then delete. I walk through one I built for a React Query migration. blog.tomaszgil.me/throwaway-by...

Recently, I have found the first case where AI wasn't good enough to give me any working code — a custom random card drawing animation. I've tried multiple prompts in Cursor and then in Claude, which tend to be good with UI, but none of them really gave me the result I was looking for.
