The average person is not getting yearly wage increases that come anywhere near the rate of inflation (my healthcare job increase was 3%) and some aren't getting an increase at all (minimum wage jobs aren't seeing a yearly increase).

I'm not a boat-knower but as a military requirements victim, none of this is ever as simple as "just what we had but better". Like the Burke itself was essentially perfect for its time-frame. Making the new Burke is going to require a lot more than just updating whatever made the Burke a success.

Canada sells arms to Israel, sent troops to help occupy Afghanistan, and their corporations sold us material to occupy Vietnam. Now for their government to act accordingly to ours turning hostile to them is a lot like my politicians only now coming to terms with our relationship with Israel.

Palestine, Mexico, Sudan, and others for whom their blood is on my hands because I'm a citizen. You can call out my government all you want, but don't act like you too don't have blood on your hands too.

my contribution to bike helmet discourse is to observe that many of the people in this space have been fighting with the same people about it so long that there is essentially no nuance left. You should probably wear a helmet. That does not excuse distracted driving or our piss poor infrastructure.
