Every autumn I stop by the osmanthus tree and think, “I wish I could bottle this.” This year I’m taking that thought a little too literally. Making my own perfume—because apparently stopping to smell the flowers wasn’t enough. Now I need to wear the tree. 😂🌼

Nowadays it is rare to see an entranceway (gen-khan) made with tatami as pictured in the home of Takayoshi Kido; a Meiji period statesman with samurai roots. The natural materials of traditional Japanese houses; paper, wood and bamboo, are a few reasons why they are so comfortable and beautiful.

夫の前で食べたって、別にいい。でも、一個しかない。さすがに夫がいる前で、一人で食べるのは気が引けて、ずっと我慢していた。そして今日、夫が出かけた。よし。玄関のドアが閉まる音を確認した瞬間、キッチンへダッシュ💨 鞄の中から一昨日買ったマドレーヌを取り出し、いざ開封。やっと食べられる。一口食べた、その瞬間— 「ねえ、俺のスマホ見た？」玄関から夫の声。えっっっ！！？😱 戻ってきた！！ここで見つかるわけにはいかない。残りのマドレーヌをガブッと全部口に押し込み、そのままトイレへダッシュ💨 モグモグしながら思った。 50過ぎて、私は一体何をしているんだろう。
