My back yard last night. The Snow Moon casting shadows.

My backyard has trees but not an arboretum. And the leaves are still falling.

Ladies and gentlemen, it has begun. Snow has arrived.
A light dusting of snow in a backyard. Its weight bows down the tall grasses and covers leaves on the ground.

I think you need to see this today. An antidote to madness everywhere: forests and waterfalls.
A waterfall topped by a tree with orange leaves, against a bright blue sky. Time lapse of a waterfall descending a shale cliff face on an autumn morning. A smaller waterfall cascading down a ravine with bright green and gold trees. Warm golden sun filtering into a steep ravine under autumnal trees. Gold. Green. Shadows.

Lake Ontario yesterday. The last sunny, warm day for a while. I’ll have to hold on to that for many months.

A beach, five mins from where I live. Why am I not here every morning?

Mini vacation in my home town. Coffee, pastries and a visit to Lake Ontario. Spent an hour watching clouds and the blue sky. Perfect luxury.
Paddle boarders, seated, paddle against the wind under a blue sky. A sailboat floats past the trees on a lake. Sunlit clouds scuttle eastwards high above the lake. On a rocky shore, sunlight falls between the passing shadows of clouds, at the edge of the lake.

Lake Ontario in a mood of greys this morning. But at least it stopped raining.
Stone walkway by the shore line. The lake is grey and the overhanging trees are black against the cloudy sky.

Trilliums today. Rivers of them in the nearby woods. Nearing the end of their season so I am glad to capture these.
White trilliums with a green stripe down each petal. White trilliums fading to pink as they age.

This is enough magic for me. After a week of cloud, I can see the moon and Venus. Mercury was lost in the sunset glow near the horizon.
Skyline at dusk. A cell phone tower to the left and the crescent moon adjacent. Then Venus a little higher to the right.

We are devoid of sun. The winter snow and ice are decaying. Out searching for beauty by the creek. Here is a little.
An ice covered creek angles away through a mash and snowy banks toward a treed ridge.

I’m in the front, at the Table Lands in Newfoundland. June and there’s snow on the hills. Bitter cold rain and STILL delighted.

The view from high on the hill above Montarossa at sunset.
The setting sun casts a red glow on the towns of the Cinque Terre, fading into the distance, cove by cove.

When the tariff news comes at us non-stop, it’s time for a walk to the harbour.
Early sunlight bounces through a candle holder. Bronte Harbour frozen and covered with a honking flock of geese. Snow on the muskoka chairs. Snow, muskoka chairs and the opening of the harbour mouth with lighthouses.

Good morning, BlueSky.
Pale blue sky behind pine streets, as the sun begins to rise. The crescent moon entangled in tree trunks and branches.

Three watercolours today.
First picture of misty trees in the snow. More misty trees on a hill. More snow on the trees on a hill.

The light at the harbour was beautiful but mostly the world was grey and white. Except for *little* blue sky.
Bronte Harbour - grey everywhere but a patch of blue. Lovely veils of light filtering thru the clouds to the grey waters. Taken in full colour on winter afternoon. At last - blue sky between the drifts of grey clouds at the harbour.

For me it is Lake Huron. The yearly summer pilgrimage. The road rising one last time over great dunes to drop down to the water and the slowly setting sun.
Figures silhouetted in a silver lake as the sun sets.

Sauble Beach, Ontarios on Lake Huron. Yes to the clouds.
A low, orange sun scatters light on the underside of wispy clouds and the surface of a lake. Three silhouetted figures are dwarfed by the sky.

Inglis Falls last week. Cold, beautiful. I wish there was sound!
Red berries silhouetted against the white, tumbling water of the falls. Water falling day and night down limestone ledges.

I’m reading The Iliad again. Emily Wilson’s translation. Apollo sets Aeneas down on the mountain at Pergamum and sends him for healing. I was there in 2023! I saw it! I visited the Asclepieion! That’s why I travel. You can touch places that are bigger, older, wilder than yourself.
The Iliad The temple of Apollo is high on the hill. View from the Asclepieion.
