Pen and watercolor

Cowboys again. This time one of our boys has lost his boots. Standing in a field of long grass the cowboy points towards the ground and shouts back to his colleague, “Lil bone people got muh boots.” This makes no sense to the other cowboy who sits atop his horse away from the action. He responds, “Lil wut?” Sure enough in the foreground we see a squad of little bone people scampering through the grass with the stolen cowboy boots. They’re thrilled. How the bone people got the boots off the cowboy is unclear.

Artist’s note: I tend to draw drawings from the same perspective (straight on) most of the time. This idea came about when I was goofin around trying to draw a character from a lower angle. I like that the story unfolds with the foreground, mid-ground, and background all working together. There’s a draft of this one included in the Spooky Pants book. Coming out next week!

A fair few more spooky themed episodes this season too which was a surprise. The Christmas episode was a bit of a drag for the first half, but the second half was fantastic Overall fairly solid stuff. Like a 7.5/10 season overall.

however there were also some really fun episodes, anything involving Marceline or Ice King was fantastic. Season introduces a few new fun characters tho, Lemongrab and Fire Princess seem like fun additions going forward.

This season has plenty of moments where it hints towards greater things, but they're all mostly toward the start of the season, after that it mostly returns to chaotic nonsense, which is fine, you can tell they're maybe running low on ideas. There were a few more repeated ideas

The episodic chaos is starting to run a little thin for me now unfortunately, which is a shame. But i think part of that feeling comes from 2 things; 1. seeing more of the serialised aspects and learning more about Ooo and the history have left me wanting more. 2. this is ultimately a kids show lol

More Adventure time, finished watching Season 3! A little sad that some of the stuff setup a the end of season 2 didn't stick around very long, but ultimately another fun season.

Banger OST time! This is one of the boss themes in Pumpkin Jack! This track goes hard 😤 the percussion keyboards create an awesome sound, and the drums are heavy hitting! The choir, as well as various other instruments on this track, help to create a tense and spooky sound, it's a cool track!

Overall if this movie interested you, and you were a little put off by the reviews. Definitely see it, eventually at least. It's something that i feel will only get better with time. even beyond it's overt blatant messaging, it's a very fun movie to watch visually. An easy 9/10

Cast is phenomenal, i'm not a huge tom cruise fan, but I have to admit he did a fantastic job here. Everyone else in the cast is the same, they really give it their all. Hamming it where possible and it's always entertaining.

The movie genuinely had me shocked at points however, in the best way possible. I don't want to spoil anything, but how this movie goes was not what i was expecting and it added a whole new layer to it, that I'm sure has way more depth to unpack than I could gleam from a first viewing.

The only other complaint i've seen is that the movie maybe over stays its welcome in some scenes, and i can somewhat agree. For a comedy it's somewhat lengthy, but I struggle to see what could be cut. But ultimately if it were paced a tad tighter it definitely would have benefited.

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Movie doesn't shy away from it's political message and stance on global warming and the current folks in power, I've seen some reviews that say it's very heavy handed and i don't fully disagree. But i feel like that's entirely the point, esp considering how this movie is presented

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Story wise the movie is about an oil baron called Digger, who manages to cause a huge disaster involving one of his digging sites in the Antarctic. The rest of the movie follows the resulting chaos and politics surround it, all with an absurdist satire angle to it all.

First off the movie is a visual treat. It has a very heightened and stylised approach to it. The whole thing purposefully feeling like it was pulled out of a theatre. Very Wes Anderson styled, with the set design and the use of colours. However it still has it's own unique style beyond that.

Another new movie, Digger. The first trailer I saw seemed very interesting and I was very curious about it, very glad I saw it, it's a really visually stunning

Ever since that new local cinema opened up in my city last year i've gone to it at least once a month now. Tickets are half the price of the larger chain ones and they have sofa chairs, it's so good.

Overall a deeply unsettling movie, it doesn't bother with trying to fully hide what it's about, but also never fully addresses it. If you're looking for a depressing psychological horror this is it! An upsetting 7.5/10

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Movie is also deeply British. Even though it's seemingly supposed to be set in modern day, it feels like it's from a whole different era, the protagonists house is very old and the man he lives with is even older. The way they both dress is also very 70's / 60's style.

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The movie did however explore some darker themes and subject matter, it was never overt with the details or specifics but what it implies is already very genuinly upsetting. Kind of a day ruiner movie tbh lol.

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The movie only has a handful of locations and characters, and the main character is mostly spending the time doing fairly repetitive things within each location, which makes a lot of sense, but I would be lying if I said it didn't get boring. Even though it's only 80 minutes, it kinda dragged
100
Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Plot wise the movie jumps around a fair bit, you're often left wondering if some things have even happened, it's a fragmented and disjointed narrative, but it only helps build upon the unsettling vibe of the movie.

Possum itself is a very creepy looking puppet, very crude in how it's made but it'd helps add to the eerie feeling it has. As a result it has a fair few genuinely unsettling moments, and a surprisingly effective few jumpscares

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The possum itself is a very blatant metaphor for it as well, quite literally he's unable to get rid of it and is always carrying it around in a bag. We see him destroy it in every way possible, but the possum always comes back.

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The protagonist is a man who is deeply troubled, for a vast majority of the movie you're left wondering if it's due to some sort of trauma or some immense guilt he feels. Every so often the movie sways toward one possible interoperation and then in the next scene it goes the other way

Valve marked Mors Blade as "not suitable for Germany and China" by Valve, even if it does not have any explicit content. This will prevent it from being sold in those countries and age gated in UK, despite me working hard to avoid this. I feel deflated. store.steampowered.com/app/5175990/...

Nonsense For me this is a 3/10. Points awarded for the stunning animation work and cool concept of the infinity castle itself. Everything else about this movie sucked so bad.

But yeah, i can't beleive there are gonna be two more of these. This movie was bloated beyond belief. I really dread how they're gonna go. atp i feel obligated to finish it. it's just baffling to me they made these into movies, esp considering it's supposedly the last 40% of the entire series
100
Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I went into this already sceptical, because my interest in the series was already incredibly low, esp after how the hashira training arc felt so rushed. Up until that point i had a mild interest in the show, but this movie actually really pissed me off lmao so take my rating with a grain of salt
100
Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
but that's about it. it's a pretty looking movie, everything else is subpar. There's little to no emotional payoff for some of the characters and their final hurrahs because the show has done very little to actually get me invested in their characters, except for a half-baked last minute flashback

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The other fight of Akaza vs Tanjiro & Giyu is at least visually very impressive, the rest of the action in this movie was mostly on par with the show, which was a bit of a let down honestly. However Akaza's section stepped it up and was far more impressive, if nothing else it's pretty to look at
100
Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The rest of the movie isn't much better, Doma is at least a somewhat interesting antagonist, personality wise, his fight isn't the greatest and it isn't even finished, it's left on a cliffhanger.

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
And then as soon as this arc starts he's suddenly over his character flaw, and has made up a new move to beat evil version of his friend in one of the most unsatisfying ways possible. All the pay off with absolutely no setup, it's genuinely baffling. Frustrated me so much I had to stop watching

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Nothing about it works. Zenitsu has spent the ENTIRE series up until this point with a clear character flaw he needs to overcome, however right before this battle starts he gets a mysterious letter about a friend he's NEVER mentioned in the series prior.

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Movie has three major sections that follow three fights against Doma, Kaigaku and Akaza. Of which the only one that really held my interest was Akaza. Zenitsu vs Kaigaku might honestly be one of the most infuriating fights i've seen in shonen.

Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
One flashback happens towards the end of the movie and lasts 25 minutes, like 5 minutes before they die. That feels like writing 101 of NOT what to do to give a character depth.
100
Toast Hatter @toasthatter.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
This movie, is an action movie. However it has some of the worst pacing i've ever seen when it comes to one. It quite laterally has a bout 4-5 minutes of action, followed by a slow and lengthy flashback for a character that REALLY should've had it YEARS ago, and then goes back to a little action.

Finally watched the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (Part 1) movie. I was very critical of the series in the past, and this movie has only heightened my criticisms to an absurd degree, what do you mean this is the finale??

Final two episodes introducing the Litch and it actually having some sort of meaningful impact on the story is very interesting, i've heard that the show starts to become more serialised as it goes on which has me excited esp with how this finale was handled.
