i don’t understand, *if* you consider china an adversary, doesn’t it make sense to want bytedance to divest because CCP literally controls every private company? Espionage isn’t unlikely.

i’m top 2% of neanderthal dna as a 100% native south asian. very fascinating.

growing up in india you always assumed everything’s going up by ~5% every year. it’s a rapidly growing economy so not shocking tbh

well they reversed it shortly after it was pointed out by larger accounts so they probably agree with my understanding of algorithmic choice automatic insta-banning isn’t scalable if not reserved for extreme content like csam/violence, app store policy noncompliance, etc.

...and now @hardmaru.bsky.social has been un-banned to.

sure but bsky doesn’t claim to be a regular social media platform. the whole point was to put its users and communities in control and make the experience maximally composable. the plane analogy doesn’t work bc i can’t preemptively choose to filter it out and prevent the potential mass hysteria

bsky’s pitch is quite convincing. DIDs, transparency, custom feeds, potential interoperability with fediverse. X is full of engagement farming posts and rage baits, their creator program sucks, and it’s become a propaganda machine for elon. Overall very off putting.

perhaps, and i don't even care if that's the default experience. i just wanna be able to truly govern my own feed like they made it seem initially

said something about there only being a certain # of genders as a test in response to a post on twitter claiming that it gets to insta-banned

turned off all the @moderation.bsky.app filters and I still can't view bsky.app/profile/hard... 's posts bc he got flagged doing a test. what's the point of algorithmic choice if ultimately a "moderation team" gets to decide what i see @support.bsky.team ?
