What do we feel like is an impressive "I've seen X of that star's movies?" metric. I hit my 30th Harrison Ford movie this month with this series, and it definitely feels like I've seen a lot of his movies (I know you might have seen more), but what is that number...15, 20, 25...when do you hit it?

The list of living actors who had leading roles in Hollywood studio films from the 1940's you could probably count on one hand at this point. A smattering of the few:

And now it's my turn! I take a look at the films of 1964, including the ones that Oscar didn't have time for, and pick who I would've nominated at the Academy Awards that year: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com/2026/06/my-1...

The title of "most famous American film I've never seen" is perpetually changing as I see more movies, but I'm guessing at this point it's probably one of these four films. Anyone want to fess up to their biggest stateside cinematic blindspot?

For #LetterboxdFriday this week, it's all about Steve McQueen (and a peak at some of my blog articles for the weeks ahead), as well as Gregory Peck's boring film debut and a bonkers performance from Virginia Madsen.
Le Mans (1971): 2.5/5 stars
Days of Glory (1944): 2/5 stars

My #LastFourWatched this week took a continued detour not just through 1964, but also through some gaps in my Psycho-Biddy viewing. A disappointing hit sequel & a DVR cleanup title round it out. A solid list, overall.
The Devil Wears Prada 2: 2/5 stars
Dead Ringer (1964): 3/5 stars
The Night Walker (1964): 4/5 stars
The Brave One (1956): 3/5 stars

A very stressful week in my life meant more comfort viewings than anything else, so we had not just a rewatch of Agatha All Along (still holds up), but also filling a recent Disney gap with the live-action Dumbo, & a Christmas noir. Also, finished up Charles Bronson month!
Murphy's Law (1986): 2.5/5 stars

More 1964 & Charles Bronson this week (I've only got three more screenings for the OVP, and I'm hoping to get to all of them this weekend so expect a post soon). Also saw The Christophers, an interesting but lacking Soderbergh pic & a solid barebones mid-50's noir. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched

Easily one of the weirdest lineups I've had for #LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday in a while. A couple of DVR cleanups, a random short film curiosity, & a new film. Still working on 1964, and starting 1990, this weekend.
Lady of the Tropics (1939): 2/5 stars
Film: The Living Record of Our Memory (2021): 3/5 stars

All right-a week down, and we're making a lot of progress on 1964 (5 more for the OVP, 23 more for the My Ballot), and also got another (long) title off of the DVR. And of course I snuck out & saw The Drama, which hopefully everyone is supporting this weekend at the box office. #LetterboxdFriday

Was very proud to be amongst the 100,000 Minnesotans who stood up and marched. Yesterday we marched to the Capitol, but in November (and in 2028) we march to the ballot box to ensure that Trump & his administration is gone for good.

Okay-I forgot to do this yesterday so really this is two viewings from today, but it's still a good indication of my March goals of rewatching some of my favorite film series, focusing on our Star of the Month Sean Connery, finishing up a few 2025 viewings, & a random noir as a treat.
My Last 4 Watched on Letterboxd:

How to Train Your Dragon (2025): 2.5 stars
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011): 3 stars
The Wind and the Lion (1975): 2 stars

#LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday this week is me continuing to clean out the 2025 Oscar nominees, our last screening of Errol Flynn from last month's Star of the Month (less movies than usual this week), and then two totally random screenings that have been lounging on my watchlist for a while.
My Letterboxd Last 4 Watched:

Marie Antoinette (1938)-3.5 stars
Sirat (2025)-2.5 stars
Breaking Away (1979)-3.5 stars

In the heart of 1964 viewings as we tackle that next for the OVP, as well as getting a totally random MGM movie off of my DVR, and at least one (surprisingly solid) trip to theaters for a 2026 release. Weirdly no 2025 Oscar nominees, but that'll change tomorrow. #LastFourWatched

It's worth noting, given King (and Collins) are supporting this bill, that Janet Mills is actively against this compromise, and staking a quick claim to the left of the Maine & New Hampshire senators.

Lockhart's death brings to an end the Classical Era of the Universal Monster movie. While there are bit players in these movies still around (most notably Clint Eastwood), Lockhart, who starred in She-Wolf of London, was (as far as I can tell) the last living actor to get prominent billing.
