Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 20/09/2025Yet we build ourselves on such tradition. We tell only the one story afterall, over and over. Through us that dead air is lent new life, and we remember, that we might one day understand.” - Christopher Ruocchio, Sun Eater: Howling Dark, Chapter 59 000
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 20/09/2025One may be part of a community. One is an individual. They’re not mutually exclusive. It is only that the soul, the self should lead and our allegiances follow. To do otherwise, to be otherwise, is to make one’s self a slave. Often when we speak, it is with the breath of dead men. 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 20/09/2025There is no truth to this. Each of us contains multitudes. What it is not that we ourselves in the body of human kind. Rather we are clay, shaped as the mountain is shaped; by the wind, the tramping foot, and the rain. By the world. The mark of other hands is on us, but we are ourselves alone. 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 20/09/2025“Some people believe that the painter who works his canvas is not an individual because he acquired his skills at the knee of some earlier master. That the soldier who stands before the enemy is not a hero, but a pawn, and one of many. 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 08/08/2025It is a wonderful game. It was an absolute blast to run it and I hope my games convinced at least some of the players to buy ot. 030
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025So what I got from this is that I should put EVEN MORE TWISTS in my scenarios lol. But, seriously, it is very good to hear such feedback for my WtA scenario. Looks like people are enjoying the exposure to other cultures. That means I need to write more about Kazakhstan! 000
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025- Loved that it was set in Kazakstan and loved in the inclusion of culture and language - I enjoyed how the storyteller helped get everyone involved 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Werewolf: - I really enjoyed the GM bringing the Kazakhstan setting and mythology into the game. Allowed me to learn something new and helped flesh out the setting very well. GM was very good at keeping the game moving by dropping new clues to follow without giving away the mystery too soon 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025- Easy to roll and understand, fail forwards were good, dm was attentive and rolled with the punches - I think the story telling was excellent, the story was good, and the GM did a good job of Yes Anding and allowing us to explore. 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Some highlights from the reviews: Our Brilliant Ruin - The mystery leading players into making the worst assumptions about the NPCs and causing destruction to each other. (cont) 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025This year the reviews gave better feedback that was actually about me though, last year it was all "the system is fun, the scenario was so so". 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025It's kinda irritating when you tell people "please don't judge the scenario (last year) or the system (both)" and they end up only mentioning those!!! Guys, your "system is cool but the scenario was railroady" is NOT helpful! I have nothing to do with either! 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Reading the player surveys. So last year I got 13 reviews and the average rating was 9.15. This year I got 12 reviews and the average was 9.75. I count that as progress lol. 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025This is is the face of "I went to GenCon and came back with destroyed vocal cords and bank account." Not sure when I will recover financially, but I am still coughing and surviving on cough drops and tea with honey. 020
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025And, of course, the loot! All of the loot! I barely fit everything in my suitcase. It ended up being overweight but the guy at the check-in desk let it pass because he was so impressed. The suitcase did not survive, sadly. And my bank account is making a police report for abuse. 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Got to run 6 sessions, 3 games: 3 sessions of Our Brilliant Ruin 2 sessions of Werewolf: the Apocalypse 1 session of Welcome to Night Vale All games were amazing. It really makes a difference when you run your own material in comparison to someone else's. 230
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Saw Call of Cthulhu live by The Glass Cannon Network. Amazing as always. Got photos with Noura Ibrahim, Kate Stamas and Troy Lavallee (I got a photo with Skid last year) 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Also met Andrew Peregrine and told him all about the shenanigans that my players got into while playing Dune. Had a good laugh. And got an autograph from one of the new Kung-Fu Panda RPG (yes, that's a thing, apparently). Sadly, I don't remember his name. 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Caleb Stokes - author of the Delta Green: God's Teeth and Red Markets Kenneth Hite - author of too many things, such as Trail of Cthulhu, Night's Black Agent, Fall of Delta Green, as well as lead designer of Vampire: the Masquerade 5th Edition Ross Payton - GM and host of RPPR Actual Play. 120
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Celebrity time! Paul Fricker and Mike Mason of Call of Cthulhu 100
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025Well, folks, you know what time it is. It is time for GENCON PHOTO DUMP!!! 130
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/08/2025"Man is a wolf to man and a dragon to the inhuman." - "Empire of Silence: The Sun Eater: Book One" by Christopher Ruocchio 000

You're welcome. store.hplhs.org/products/aud...store.hplhs.orgAudio Props: God's TeethProfessionally recorded audio files bring props and handouts from God's Teeth for the Delta Green role playing game to thrilling life. 0241
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 25/07/2025South Park is not fucking around. I'd share screenshots but I don't want to get de***ted 👀 010
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 07/07/2025Wanted to spend the long weekend finishing my GenCon scenarios. Ended up sleeping 11-13 hours a day, reading Christopher Ruocchio's The Sun Eater and listening to Kardashev. 020
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 01/07/2025Fixing teeth is such a pain in the ass. I am more than halfway in my Invisalign treatment and I'm tired of it. The worst part is that when I take the trays out even for 30 mins to eat, when I put them back my teeth hurt because they've already shifted back 🥲 010
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 25/06/2025Hot take, but... I don't think that people talking to or having relationships with AI is a problem. Relationships are hard. We're living during a loneliness pandemic. Let people find some comfort, life is hard as it is. I know folks who are genuinely doing better due to this. 010
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 25/06/2025So you're saying that I would be able to save money and not be in debt if I stopped buying RPG books and going to GenCon every year? Get out of here with stupid ideas like that. 010
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 25/06/2025I'm watching a YouTube video about The Room and apparently the main character was supposed to be a vampire who had a flying car. So the question here: Is Tommy Wiseau a Malkavian or a particularly eccentric Toreador? 000
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 23/06/2025Watched Dave Thaumavore's review of The Electric State and now I want to run it. I have the book but somehow completely forgot about it. 010
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 09/06/2025Is there a good documentary or YouTube video about the history of professional wrestling? 000
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 02/06/2025Started reading Christopher Ruocchio's "The Sun Eater". Only a few chapters in but it's good stuff. Very beautiful writing, reminds me of Guy Gavriel Kay. 000
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025That's all folks! Here's Chopper for those who survived till the end 120
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025Finally, I snatched the Everyday Heroes rulebook for $20 (I don't really need it, but it's $20, come on) and some dark fantasy Borg game that had cool art. I'm tired as shit but content. Now I gotta rest and start prepping for GenCon in August... 130
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025I found the Masks of Nyarlathotep box-set with a 40% discount in the "dinged games" section. It looked perfect to me, not sure why it was there, but I'm not complaining. 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025 really tried to not spend too much money but inevitably failed. Of course, I had to buy the Mothership game. Bought a few modules to it as well. I needed the physical rulebook of Our Brilliant Ruin for August and they had that as well. 230
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025I absolutely loved the vibes of this game. There is so much depth in the setting. A weird mixture of whimsy, childlike wonder and also tragedy and melancholy. I need to run it myself now. I have a few ideas about Changelings in Almaty. 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025As we got out of the western, we ended up in some house with too bright pastel colors and a whimsical soundtrack. Everyone was like OH FUCK NOT WES ANDERSON PLEASE!!! The game culminated in a boss battle where my character shot train rails out of a bazooka screaming RAILGUN MOTHERFUCKER! GET IT??!! 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025My character jumped into the train and rearranged it with a wrench and a welding torch into a steampunk mecha-transformer robot. The bad guy was really pissed off. There were also talking horses and other nonsense typical for Changeling games. 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025A Sidhe trapped us in a dream made out of movie tropes. My character decided to just break stuff. When we entered the western genre, I turned myself into a steampunk cowboy from Wild Wild West. One of our friends ended up tied to the tracks with a train approaching - a classic. 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025The highlight of the con was Changeling: the Dreaming. I've been wanting to play this game for years. The scenario was about a movie festival in Baltimore. I played a Nocker (sort of a goblin?) car mechanic with a foul mouth and short temper but a heart of gold. 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/20255 hours of seducing mortals, political intrigues and murder investigations that culminated in a Diablerie and a final twist where the bad guy was revealed to be alive and possessing one of the PCs. All as it should be. 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025The last game I ran was Vampire: the Masquerade. Unlike Werewolf and Delta Green, I went with an official scenario about power struggles in an Anarch city. As usual, it was a total shit show in a good way. 110
Haldir @tleilaxian.bsky.social · 29/05/2025We had ridiculous fights with Kirk-style double fisted punches, blatant violations of the Prime Directive and "reverse the polarity of the quantum subspace manifold conduit" technobabble. I love when players are well versed in genre tropes. 120
