i think a big part of the reason i dont go so crazy for bloodborne is i think of all the fromsoft games in that style is is the least conducive to role playing

calculus seems like a powerful tool with which to understand complex things in the physical world, but in a game you are dictating the numbers in the program, you probably don't need to find the derivative of a game object's position, you are determining those forces!
