I'm sad to say it, but I'm not going to be at #PositConf2026 this year, either in-person or virtually. It has been a long difficult summer, and this time is the only time I was able to find to actually take vacation, given difficult family issues and work transitions. Hope everyone has fun!

My largest app gripe: when app notification badges are wrong. It's like an itch you can't scratch when there's a "1" on the icon and there's no new actual notifications in the app. #makeitstop

I haven't posted in a while because it seems pretty pointless. The algorithm basically shapes our behavior, and I don't want to play. I am pissed that my music on Free Music Archive was used to train BS AI, though. That is a major level of crap. Damn pirates.

Thanks! That was super terrifying to put together, since it felt very raw at the time.

Really enjoying this keynote talk by Peter Gruber called "Trust but Verify" about how truth seeking methods can help in assessing AI. Reactivating my philosophical curiosity. #rmedicine2026

I feel we all have to be Blade Runners nowadays. We need to be good at detecting AI content. What I wonder whether this means that we will now reject perfect looking people as AI generated and untrustworthy. Maybe "real" looking people will be considered more trustworthy.
