Quinn is the only one in these stories that doesn’t die. I’m beginning to think he’s really the Crypt Keeper from the comics.

What with the cool, the fog, and the onlooking crows, I hope they had blankets.

On a tour of Boston’s cemeteries, a squirrel ran up my leg. I shook it off, and it ran straight up the tour guide and sat on his shoulder like a damn parrot. We had to buy it off with food. Not my favorite animal.

The duck pond at Queen Elizabeth park had enough water for a duck.

Interesting fact, the chemicals severely wrinkled the feet of the “stompers”, making them look old or “aged”. “Foot-aged film” was soon shortened by the fast-talking journalists of the 20’s to “footage”.

Balderdash! It was because those long strips of film couldn't be developed in ordinary photography trays. They had to be dumped into vats of developing chemicals and stomped like grapes until the images appeared. I hear it was a communal and joyous activity, though strangely, no one ever filmed it.

Burke’s universe is just mean.

It should work, but I doubt the effect would be instantaneous, considering the amount of energy involved. You might keep withdrawing heat when you've gone past an unseen tipping point and end up in a deep freeze. Also a lot of air movement? Very interesting problem.

Is there a tax advantage to having a catacomb? Also, if somebody turned all the skulls into cups, is it just a bar now?

I think every group of humans thinks some other group is smarter, bigger, or tougher. So, they freak this out into "us versus them". Stupid decisions and destructive hijinks follow. Rinse and repeat (except for sudden, shining moments of sanity).

I’m repeating my proclamation that Washington D.C. be renamed New Moose Jaw. If it needs to be made official, I have a Sharpie around here somewhere.

Not happy with CBC switching away from the PM after a couple of minutes. It’s kind of important to know what is going on in a trade war.

I was always surprised beard guy was alive at the end of the episode. (Canadian view of grizzlies, maybe?) The Littlest Hobo was much more believable.

Happy birthday to Rick Sternbach, production designer/illustrator for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, TNG, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. Chances are that if you love a Star Trek ship, he was one of the designers on it (as well as the PADD and the DS9 space station).

Ursula Le Guin, in The Lathe of Heaven, writes about jellyfish (not whales): "Current-borne, wave flung, tugged hugely by the whole might of ocean, the jellyfish drifts in the tidal abyss. . . it has for its defence the violence and power of the whole ocean . . ." Much like sleeping whales.
