If you’re looking for an album that simply radiates with joy, check this out. A Brandi Carlile & Elton John record was not on my radar at all, but I’d be damned if this isn’t a fun listen.

Ok yeah, this movie is pretty damn good: I get why it won all those Oscars. Definitely need to rewatch it at some point soon.

The fallout from this will hurt so many people, it’s not even funny.

Whilst not perfect, “The Gorge” is a great film for a movie night or the like. It can be a little formulaic at times, but not “Netflix Original” formulaic, which is nice. Miles Teller isn’t as charismatic as I thought he might be, but Anna Taylor-Joy kills her role (per usual). Overall, not bad. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s a shame that Marilyn Monroe is more known today for her looks than for her filmography, because every movie I’ve seen so far with her in it has been decent to really good, “Niagara” being in the latter category. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This song is not only one of my favorite pop songs of the year so far, but one of my most favorite songs to drop this year period. It’s so hypnotic & groovy, with all its moving parts in motion together with perfect precision.

Anyone who doesn’t believe that Trump cooked up some kinda backdoor deal with TikTok is either stupid or a liar.

A rare example of a deluxe album version being on par with the original.

The newest addition to the record collection: I don’t really buy boxsets, but I like Bernstein, and it’s nice to have all of Beethoven’s symphonies in one cohesive package. It’s also cool that this particular pressing is a 1980 West Germany release.

Whenever The Weeknd & Lana Del Rey collaborate, it’s like crack to my ears. This song is fucking incredible.

It looks like 2025 will be another great year for women in hiphop, if this song is any indication.

‘Tis a hot take, but I like this album more than “Illmatic”. The latter is still a classic though.

FKA twigs’ newest album “EUSEXUA” stands out in an era where mainstream electronic/dance records tend to just be compilations of singles. “EUSEXUA” is FKA’s homage to electronic music, while also carving out her own niche in it & creative take on it. The title track & “Striptease” are standout cuts.

“Gladiator II” is another fine example of Hollywood plagiarizing a bona fide classic to make some quick money. It has its moments for sure, but compared to the original, it’s very, very mid.

Do I see myself returning to this album, in full, in the future? Probably not. That said, Ethel Cain’s “Perverts” is an essential listen. Interspersed in its dark hellscape are moments that are somber, beautiful & chilling, all of which are sometimes in just one song. Favs are “Punish” & “Onanist”.

First off, if the initial single “Basic Being Basic” off of Djo’s upcoming album “The Crux” is any indication, we’re in for a treat. Secondly, this cover art is cool as fuck.

If you like spoken word, interspersed with a catchy hook, over heavy-yet-melodic rock production, you’ll dig this new single from Lord Huron titled “Who Laughs Last”…featuring Kristen Stewart of all people.

This is an impressive album-of-sorts from Jordan Adetunji. He definitely has an ear for catchy hooks, as well as what makes for interesting production. “305” w/ Bryson Tiller is a banger.

This movie was excellent: unironically, Feathers McGraw ranks as one of the best film villains of all time for me after watching this.

DAY 21 of listening to a new-to-my-ears album every day…today’s record is Van Halen’s “Fair Warning”. While not as sleek as “1984”, the album is still hard rock at its finest, with fiery riffs scattered throughout. The cover art is cool too. Favorite songs are “Unchained” & “One Foot Out The Door”.

I wouldn’t say that Breakfast At Tiffany’s is my favorite Audrey Hepburn movie that I’ve seen so far, but I definitely see now why it’s so well-known & loved. The score might be the main highlight for me: Audrey’s rendition of Moon River is just stunningly beautiful.

DAY 20 (yesterday) of listening to a new-to-my-ears record every day…today’s listen was Maruja’s 2024 EP “Connla’s Well”. The music here is left-field, but I loved the way that the rock production was filtered with jazz & other influences. Fav songs are “The Invisible Man” & “Resisting Resistance”.

DAY 19 (yesterday) of listening to a new-to-my-ears album every day…today’s listen is Julien Baker’s 2015 debut “Sprained Ankle”. If you like indie rock/pop on the softer side, with beautifully orchestrated production, you’ll dig this record. Favorite songs are the title track & “Brittle Boned”.

The beach in the wintertime is always a surreal place, in climates farther north that is. It’s very beautiful, but too cold to really enjoy to the fullest.

DAY 18 of listening to a new-to-my-ears album everyday…today’s listen was Mac Miller’s newest posthumous release, “Balloonerism”. This album is an incredible, vibey listen, and another great nod to Mac’s legacy. Favorite songs are “Do You Have A Destination?” & “Funny Papers”.

DAY 17 of jamming to a new-to-my-ears album every day…today’s record is “All In” by Malaa. This dance album was a short, yet enjoyable listen, with electronically-charged bangers and well-placed feature appearances. Favorite songs are the title track (featuring Jeremih) & “Save Me” (featuring Vory).

I feel like Dune is a movie franchise that people will be talking about for decades to come. Rewatched Part 1 tonight for (I think) the fifth or sixth time, and it gets better with each viewing. Part 2 is even better.

DAY 16 of listening to a new-to-my-ears record every day…today’s album is Ramsey Lewis’ 1966 release “Wade In The Water”. This was one of the most enjoyable jazz albums I’ve ever listened to, with a consistently danceable, let-loose vibe. Favorite songs are the title track & “Up Tight”.

DAY 15 of listening to a new-to-my-ears album every day…today’s record is an EP actually, Cleo Sol’s “Winter Songs”. Her first official body of work, “Winter Songs” lays the foundation for the soulful, laidback vibe of Cleo’s later albums. Favorite songs are “Still Cold” & “Why Don’t You”. #music

DAY 14 of listening to a new-to-my-ears album: today’s record is Redman’s 1992 debut “Whut? Thee Album”. This is one of those ‘90s hiphop classics I hadn’t heard yet, and it didn’t disappoint, with its gritty beats and Redman’s withering lyrics. Favorite songs are “Rated ‘R’” & “Hardcore”. #music

DAY 13 of jamming to a new-to-my-ears album…today’s record is “CINEMA” by indie-pop outfit The Marias. I loved band’s album from 2024, “Submarine”, so it was a given that I’d also love “CINEMA”, with its moody, yet chill, alt-pop vibe. Favorite songs are “Heavy” & “The Mice Inside This Room”.

Lil Baby’s newest album is loaded with bangers, like this track. It’s not perfect, but then again, not every album has to be a perfect classic.

A chill, groovy bop that is very reminiscent of The Avalanches. Definitely sticking around for the album, which drops at the end of February.

DAY 12 of a new-to-my-ears album every day…today’s record is “Luxury Liner”, the 3rd album from songstress Emmylou Harris. This album is loaded with country bangers and ballads, all with a classic yet sleek feel. Emmylou’s voice is just beautiful, too. Favorite songs are “Pancho & Lefty” & “She”.
