Infrastructure design is around getting to/from stations but not onward journeys with a bike. Long long ago we had "guards vans" on trains with lots of space for luggage and bikes. Long gone now. 010

Mostly private companies run the trains, some being taken back into state ownership, the infrastructure is run by different people, and a long journey may involve multiple companies with different rules. Can raise it with our MPs but it doesn't help much. 240

A lot of trains, little space for bikes on them, usually filled with luggage, bikes forbidden at peak times, and e-bikes banned on some services. Plenty of cycle parking at stations (theft is high though) but taking the bike to the destination is tricky. 150
