one day I will turn all of these kinds of thoughts into an essay. maybe as soon as when I finish my first fiction novel. maybe I'll start structuring it out now, but this is a serious academic work I need to consider and I have a book and a job

everything else is fanfiction. Andor was good. it was highly successful fanfiction. Fanfiction can be good, but it does not have gravity pulling on the original piece of art really. it is attached, but separate. canon is fake, all that exists is the art and the context in which it was made.

like yes, I am a massive fan of star wars. no i am not a person who waits with bated breath for the next star wars thing. Star wars is effectively a finished product that i find endlessly fascinating and worthy of artistic dissection. 6 films, sort of a few seasons of TV.

I feel like I could do a killing on youtube just summarizing chapters of non-fic books I've read like Jung's Man and his Symbols, or Le Guin's A Wave in the Mind, and presenting them as essays on the topic. So many people do stuff like that for 100,000s of views. I'm not a grifter tho

this is because its a depiction of what feels so comfortable to people "yes that is a goblin as I know it" known only through the gradual shift of depictions through theatre kid roleplay content on social media platforms(goofy, moronic, speaks broken english, likes shiny, doesnt mind hurting people)

One small case study: the cultural idea of a Goblin. despite goblin cultural touchstones of Lotr books and movies, harry potter b&m, the cultural idea of a goblin as referenced in "goblin mode" or "goblin core" is way more attached to d&d roleplay culture than influential large scale media
