I love her! This is a great design! Very much love the idea of them becoming more of a dinosaur because of their connection to draconic magic.

Drawn by @hungryspoon.bsky.social give her a watch! This is Norene my folksy #druid A simple country gal she is very much meant to be a 'down to earth' character to contrast those with more dramatic backstories, or personalities. #furry #furryart #TTRPG #pathfinder #art

A pair of cuties right there. I can see the skunk lady is very much in the mood to "make a mistake".

Nitro isn't enough. Nor is advertising. The reason why they have multiple revenue streams is because none of them - selling games, nitro, advertising, server subscriptions - have been enough to make the company profitable.

My concern is that Discord has been burning other people's money for years, and other people's money is drying up, so Discord is trying to find some way to make sense financially. Which may mean this is only the beginning.

000

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

It's not about "stop bullying" - I am not a fan of gambling ads, or the age verification thing, and think they are steps in the wrong direction (even if the age verification thing does seem to work pretty well without having to engage in SHENANIGANS).

100

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

You're assuming all that stuff even makes enough money to support a service like Discord. By all available public information, it does not. Which means they need to make more money somehow. Honestly, Discord should probably be a paid program. But it would not have grown the way it did if it was.

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Impulse control disorders are predictive of low income, but people with poor impulse control are not necessarily poor. See also: Donald Trump. No amount of money has tamped down his poor decision making capabilities.

000

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Also, poverty does not cause people to gamble - you are reversing causation. Problem gambling is an impulse control disorder. People with impulse control disorders are disproportionately likely to be poor because they make poor decisions. This is also why poor people are more likely to commit crimes

200

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Incorrect. Online gambling was legalized in 2018 in the US. It has been growing since then because it was previously illegal. It has not yet achieved its natural market share. Gambling is insanely profitable. This makes it easy for gambling websites to advertise themselves, so you see lots of ads.

200

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

This is the actual cause of Cory Docotorow's "Enshittification". If you give away a service, it will seem great initially because it didn't have to pay for itself, but once it has to find ways to pay for itself, people will start getting whiny.

100

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

No, it's not. Discord costs money to operate. If it isn't profitable enough to continue operation, we lose access to the service. One major problem with a lot of online services is that they often are given away for free to build a user base, then they posthumously try to figure out how to make $

210

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Does Discord even make money? One eternal issue with the internet is how many things are given away for free and then they try to figure out how to make money off of them later.

010

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Yeah, this isn't them being nefarious, it's just that younger folks often use "Gambling" and "gaming" to differentiate between gambling for money and playing non-gambling video games.

100

Titanium Dragon @titaniumdragon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Broke: Do age verification to restrict people's access to porn Woke: Do age verification so you can advertise online gambling services to people Yeah, seems about right.

I think the one without the pigtails looked better. Also, it amuses me that this was just announced and you've already generated a furry of this species. I very much approve of this. Furries work fast (TM).
