Pointed into my 3D printer enclosure. There's a small Amazon box in the foreground, 2/3 full of filament waste, my hand for scale. On the printer bed, occupying a good portion of its surface, is an articulated gingerbread cookie dragon. It's as ridiculous-looking as it sounds. Look at its little icing fangs!

Political mailer using anti-trans rhetoric against the Democratic candidate for Omaha mayor, with a splashy composite image of several (fabulous) drag performers and cross-dressers.

(Very late) response from my contractor, Per Tickets, to my email opposing the confirmation of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. 🤢 It's long, so I duplicated the image to fit the alt text. #USPol #NEPol

Thank you for contacting my office regarding the confirmation of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense.

Our country is facing the most dangerous threat environment since World War II. Adversaries like Communist China, Russia, Iran and North Korea increasingly threaten our security, freedoms, and very way of life. The only way to deter these aggressors is ensuring we maintain the most powerful, finest military in the world. This means making sure our brave women and men in uniform have the right leadership, focus, and tools to successfully perform their missions and keep us safe.

The Department of Defense (DoD) has struggled to meet these challenging times. Our acquisition process is too inefficient, uncompetitive, and risk-averse, which has led to a defense industrial base that cannot build weapons fast enough or innovate quick enough. The DoD has failed to properly address the recruiting and retention crisis to ensure we have the manpower required for effective military operations. Most concerningly, DoD leadership has too often prioritized advancing political and social agendas rather than focusing on the department's core mission of deterrence.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s mission is to right the ship. A decorated combat veteran, he will bring a warrior ethos to the Pentagon and realign the military’s focus back to warfighting.

He will put an end to corrosive progressive social agenda distractions and ensure our military meets the highest standards. Finally, he will cut the red tape, incentivize innovation, and rebuild the defense industrial base so that our military is properly equipped to defend us. I voted in favor of Secretary Hegseth’s nomination to accomplish this mission. I look forward to his strong, disciplined leadership focused on the growing threats to Americans’ national security.

If you have any other concerns or need help with a federal agency, please do not hesitate to reach out.

J was whining that he didn't have fairy lights like I did. I didn't want to do fairy lights in his room; it just does fit with his personality. Then I found Govee string downlights. A perfect solution, I thought, but expensive. They were half-off last week so I got a set. Behold:

A darkened bedroom. A queen-sized bed is centered on the facing wall. A framed poster is centered above the headboard. At the intersection of the wall and ceiling, a set of "cube lights" are strung, pointing downward. They are currently showing shades of blue and green. A cat lays on the bed, against the pillows.
