OK. THIS IS GETTING A LITTLE RUDICULOUS. SO WE'RE GONNA TRY ONE MORE TIME. I will do minor worldbuilding projects to get practice and make sure I really think about my big one. It will not be super complicated or I will never finish it. I GOT THIS.

Here it is! The system. We really only care about one planet here, but for the sake of the culture of its inhabitants it's nice to have all this defined.
A diagram of a solar system. The star at the center is a pale orange, and the following objects are orbiting in this order:

A small, dense, rocky planet with two moons

A planet with surface water and one moon, that also has water on it

A larger, red, rocky planet with rings

A relatively wide asteroid belt

A ringed, saturn-like gas giant with four moons, one molten, one rocky, one icy, and one dark and iron rich

A Jupiter-like gas giant with two moons, one rocky, and one icy

A thinner asteroid belt marking the exterior of the system.

We should just all move to the moon. We can create our own artificial atmosphere, we'll be fine. Let's just leave earth alone and let her do her thing.

Apparently Orville Wright died in 1948, which is 4 years after the first rocket to leave the atmosphere was launched. Imagine being the first person to achieve heavier-than-air flight, and also being able to be around to witness a rocket leave the atmosphere. It must have felt surreal.

This is my girlfriend btw
A very scary rabbit animatronic monster grins ominously at the camera while sitting at a desk, lit only by the static from the monitor to its right. Most details are hard to make out, but its glowing, pinprick pupils and sharp, bloody, yellowed teeth are clearly visible.

Something I've noticed about how I write worlds vs how other people write them is that I generally want to make things at least a little bit better than reality whereas everyone else seems to want to make their worlds a bit fucked up and evil, moreso than reality is.

Just had an epiphany about my self-identity while sweeping the floor of the Hy-Vee bakery and stood in shock, jaw agape, for about 30 seconds till I managed to pull myself back together.

The two biggest things I've gotten from school so far are a crippling fear of underperformance and the urge to tell someone every time I go to the bathroom in a professional setting.

She was honestly real as fuck and we all made fun of her for it
A low quality image of a teenager standing in their bedroom, looking distressed at the camera. Closed captions on the bottom of the image read "when will you learn? That your actions have consequences?"

The image is a frame from a meme that was popular a while ago.

You can pretty much tell how deep an ocean layer is by how cool its name is. Sunlit zone? That's kinda lane ngl. Midnight zone? Hmm, kinda neat sounding. HADAL ZONE?? NOW WE'RE TALKIN. I kinda wish there were more of them

Watching a video about Orion propulsion (basically moving a rocket using nuclear detonation) and this guy really just said a certain charge had the power of "0.01 kilotons of TNT." yeah man? Is that the simplest way you could put that?

Currently working on a temperature map. Have some in progress pictures of the hot and cold spots on the planet (the color is just what causes them, it doesn't have anything to do with their actual temperature aside from warm=Hotspot cool=coldspot)
A map of hotspots and coldspots during northern hemisphere summer on CD-1, a planet that I'm currently building a climate for. The majority of the planet's landmass is concentrated into one large supercontinent, with a huge inland sea in the center. The same thing, but for northern hemisphere winter. There are far fewer of both hot and cold spots.

Hey! I got some more work done! Sorry for the slow progress. School is back, and it's kinda taking a lot out of me. Here is a map of rainfall on CD-1, northern hemisphere summer and winter, respectively.
Map of rainfall during summer on a planet I'm creating, temporarily called CD-1. The lighter blue represents light rainfall, and the darker represents heavy rainfall.A map of the same planet, but for rainfall during the winter. There's a lot less during winter compared to summer.

Friends, we got a call to action 👇 We have the right to know when and how our creative works are used, especially when it comes to GenAi! This is why we need regulation like California’s Ai Copyright Transparency Act #AB-412 ! If you agree, especially if in CA, please sign & share this petition!

Let’s Be Clear: Artists & Creators Must Have Transparency NOW!
Every single day we don’t have transparency, the value of copyright loses ground and the harms inflicted to creative industries grow. California has always been on the forefront of policies that can ...

Hearing genuine gibberish in your native language is such a weird experience. Most of the time, people get it wrong, but when they do it right, it's so disorienting. Would highly recommend a listen to Prisencolinensinainciusol by Adriano celentano. Quite the experience.

What is her plan here
A (probably) Egyptian mau cat, standing in a very precarious position. Her two left feet are on a plant pot, and her two right feet are on the lip of a half-wall trim. There are no obvious places for her to get to from there.

Alright! We're doing weather now 😌 here are the ocean currents during northern hemisphere summer and winter, respectively.
A map of a planet, with its northern hemisphere in summer. It has two large sea ice caps, and various gyles arranged in cells, two north, and two south. The same planet, but the northern hemisphere is in winter. The north ice caps now extends much further, and the southern has retreated quite a bit.

Having both ADHD and depression sucks because you get that "PLEASE, GOD, LITERALLY ANYTHING THAT GIVES ME DOPAMINE WOULD BE OK RIGHT NOW I DONT CARE" mood and then you look at things that give you dopamine and try really really hard to do them and just don't, even if they require zero effort.

Watching a Secret of the Mimic video and the voice actors for those mannequins in the circus area must have had a GREAT time. I imagine they were just given their lines and asked to read them as awkwardly and unnaturally as possible.

Alright, there's the rough of the topographic map done! Really excited to have this done. I'm glad to be making a lot of progress on CD-1 :3
A topographic map of a planet in a supercontinent phase. It's almost complete, but the edges are too smooth currently, and need to be roughened up to look more natural.

Tinker @tinkerswithworlds.bsky.social · 18/06/2025
Huh. There's the northeastern side done I guess... that took, like... maybe 30 minutes... I think that first mountain range being so long has made me overestimate how long this would take.
A topographic map of a planet in a supercontinent phase. The map is not complete. The southern half of the continent does not have any topographic data yet. On the north side, there is a major contrast between the east and the west, with the east being significantly flatter comparatively. The western side is very closed off by the mountains around it.A closeup of the northeastern side of the map. It is, indeed, very flat. There is one strip of higher terrain in the center. There is also a small mountain range in the southeast.

Built up a bunch more, I'm really liking how this northwest area is turning out! Very interesting how it's ended up so cut off from the rest of the continent and the greater ocean. Just that one little access point to the waters of the lesser ocean.
A topographic map of CD-1, a planet in a supercontinent phase. The map is incomplete, but the northwest area of the map is very close to being done. The whole area is enclosed by tall mountains, aside from one opening into the smaller ocean in the center of the continent.A closer view of the northwest section of the map, the mountains in the south are quite steep and very thick, with a very large Plateau. To the north, there are thinner mountains. However, there is also a segment of flatter, high altitude ground around them. The mountains to the west and east are smaller but still quite tall. There is one opening to a sea in the southeast.

Mountain range two! This one took significantly less time because it was much shorter. You may also notice that new, higher elevation section in the first mountain range's outer-arc ridge, that's because of a large igneous province there that I did quickly as well.
A very incomplete topographic map of a planet in a supercontinent phase. Currently, only two mountain ranges are complete, and they are connected to each other. They are on the northwest side of the supercontinent.A close up of the shorter mountain range, showing more detail in its height. The front slope is quite steep, and the peak is thin, as there is no Plateau. It tapers off slightly slower on the backside than on the front.

A topographic map of CD-1, a planet I am creating that is in a supercontinent phase. The map is very incomplete, with only one mountain range in the north having been done. It is quite tall.A closer view of the complete mountain range, showing each part in a little more detail.

God has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever
A news article about a military parade being held in Washington D.C. for TrumpThe weather for Washington D.C. on the day of the parade, showing that it's supposed to thunder. As unlikely as it is, it would be VERY funny if the parade got struck by lightning.

Anyway here's a map because it's been far too long for my brain since I posted any tangible progress. I'm almost there, though. This is my mountain ranges and large igneous provinces, which are grouped together because I felt like it. Red is LIP's, and the lighter the brown the older the mountain.
A map of CD-1, the supercontinent planet that I'm working on, with mountain ranges, both ancient and new, marked, as well as large igneous provinces, which are essentially areas where a lot of magma pushed up through the crust making the area bulge and creating a spot with a lot of igneous rocks. There are quite a few mountains, especially on the west and northwestern side of the continent.
