I can’t find any data beyond the application getting published and then the trade mark getting registered a few months later in 2024 without anyone having objected. All the fields about actually deciding it qualified as a distinctive mark seem to just say “no data”.

If I try to follow the links directly I just get told my session is expired, but I’ll definitely go take a look when I have time. Somehow though, persisting just makes this worse. There was more time for someone in the company to say “hey, why are we doing this?”. Nobody with clout said it.

They’ve already apologised and said they will get the trademark cancelled. But it would be fascinating to know how it ever got this far. Both how nobody in the company said this was a terrible idea, and how they succeeded in getting a trademark registered.

It’s pretty much a default in text, yes. As opposed to something like “Master” that would indicate a relationship. In person, still would tend to use it if the situation showed dominance/submission.

I think one of the best things in the film is (spoiler alert) how he knows much better in the end what he wants and doesn’t want in a relationship, as he starts on his next one. And there’s no kink shaming here. He still wants to be a sub.

I think it’s a very good film. Some people complain it doesn’t show a healthy relationship. It doesn’t claim to. It’s not a how-to manual, and there are clear signals in some parts that it isn’t regarded entirely favourably by other kinksters. Depiction is not endorsement.
