Not quite what was intended by the choice of words in this 'For Sale' listing
If you're searching for a solid 70's performer with the stigma that comes with a Camper Nicholson built yacht, this is worth consideration.

Because the whole world is indeed united in its abhorrence for the barbarities committed in that conflict so that reporting just one side as if the is a good side and a bad one is morally pretty repugnant.

Another four cute dog accounts blocked this morning. Bluesky keeps on serving them up.

The descent into barbarism gathers pace.

Competing to claim who is the worst, most genocidal, kills more children, has fighters more out of control is such a dumb, lazy way of reporting the horrors of Gaza. Re-posting a three year old article complete with the errors and false claims that were circulating at the time, also lazy and dumb.

Much as the Inheritance Tax break for agricultural land made loads of urban rich people buy farms and pushed up the price of farmland to the point where the whole agricultural economy was distorted and no ordinary farmer could afford to buy anything.

I thought Conservatives wanted to encourage enterprise, ambition, hard work, social mobility and all that. I was clearly wrong.

I don't know why Bluesky served this up to me but I see the use of the word 'insane' doesn't spark any kind of outrage, as per normal, as long as it's not applied to you.

It must be comforting for her to pretend that it's only one issue, just one thing - the war - that has gone wrong. In reality it's everything because that's populism, promise everything, get elected then lie like hell and hang on tight.

How do I get rid of all the cats and dogs cuteness off my feed? It's got too, too much.

Tim Whittingham @timwhitt.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
There is an underlying reality to the issue. cf Truss and Kwarteng and how they detached their fiscal planning from any sense of prudence and lost market confidence.

I was a teenager in a market town with a barracks in it. We all lived in fear of pissed, randy and beligerent squaddies out at night at the weekend. They didn't integrate.

She uses 'ethnicity' to mean genetic heritage, eg race. So she is saying Englishness is all about race, but it isn't racism to say so. Bonkers. But nasty bonkers too.

Ancestry (.com if that's what you meant) have got a lot to answer for. They encourage people to obsess over their genetic lineage in a very ignorant half-arsed and ultimately racist way.

Tim Whittingham @timwhitt.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
That would be fine - we all exercise choice in how we wish to be identified. But she's saying 'ethnicity' is key, and denying that it's racist. Like saying citizenship should be dependent on race, but that isn't racism. Mad codswallop.

If you can't tell the difference between Labour and Reform the problem may be with you. It's a typical extremist view from far left or far right. Democratic politics is all about compromise and consensus, like it or not.

In the past the tories have always attracted more donations leaving Labour to rely on Union support and membership, so he's not helping his own party , but they all have the same rules or lack of.

So democracy isn't worth having because Jews, Bankers and other stateless cosmopolitans pull all the strings ? - that's a Nazi trope straight out of Mein Kampf and highly offensive and irresponsible to put it about. Democracy is never perfect but you had better love it, there's no alternative.

This still gets me every time. Albert Camus' letter to a teacher after he'd been awarded the Nobel Prize.
19 November 1957

Dear Monsieur Germain,

I let the commotion around me these days subside a bit before speaking to you from the bottom of my heart. I have just been given far too great an honor, one I neither sought nor solicited. But when I heard the news, my first thought, after my mother, was of you. Without you, without the affectionate hand you extended to the small poor child that I was, without your teaching and example, none of all this would have happened. I don’t make too much of this sort of honor. But at least it gives me the opportunity to tell you what you have been and still are for me, and to assure you that your efforts, your work, and the generous heart you put into it still live in one of your little schoolboys who, despite the years, has never stopped being your grateful pupil. I embrace you with all my heart.

Albert Camus

Yeah really! Trump is so clueless he has no idea that it really is never going to be enough to just be smart and charming and persuasive. They are putty in the hands of Putin's team.

I really don't get this semantic issue, and I did read your article. To me far right and hard right are almost synonyms, I don't understand one to be kinder or indulgent. If anything 'hard' is better language because it's a metaphor carrying meanings like abrasive, or inflexible, maybe dangerous.
