I'm as hard on Nick as anyone, but I don't think that he doesn't know what he wants the "identity" of this team to be. They just don't have the ability to do it. Of course, this just means that he doesn't have a Plan B... which is almost as bad.

Would I rather be ruled by Lord Vetinari than by democratically-elected officials? Probably. The problem is that if the dictator happens to be Lord Rust instead, there is no non-violent way to make a change.

Is the 70% specific to Nix, or is that your opinion avout NFL offenses in general? I personally haven't watched enough of Nix to comment on him specifically.

70% seems way too high to me. If good offenses were that reliant on QB play, it seems practically impossible that a 3rd-string QB would do what Case Keenum did last week.

Hurts has faults, but no more than any other top-10 QB. If the Eagles dropped him, some other team would immediately sign him to be their starter. The same is not true for Sirianni.

Ok, one more before I mute the thread. You're focusing (cherry-picking) on my saying "since 2020". Is there a player we've been discussing who was a rookie in 2020, which might be the reason why I referenced that year? You're doing a good job of proving my point.

Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Lol. I've been watching longer than you have, and more teams than just the Eagles. Looks like you've decided to cherry-pick your arguments just like you cherry-pick bad Jalen Hurts plays. I'm not going to respond again until you have something intelligent to say.

If it were QB talent, the backup QBs would look better. They haven't.

I've watched practically every game since 2020. I don't remember the last time receivers were schemed open. Every throw Hurts attempts is contested. That's scheme, or WR talent, not QB.

Cool. I'm glad we are in agreement. Let me know when you change that last point.

How have Chicago's backup QB's played this year? What about Philadelphia's?

Stout was sidelined by Sirianni. Read up on the reporting around that. That's why Stout quit.

Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
They were a good running team because of Jeff Stoutland, whom Sirianni chased away

Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
They won the SB by passing the ball.

Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Let me know when you want to have an intelligent conversation. If you think the guy who should have 2 SB MVPs, I don't know what to tell you. In the meantime, maybe look to see what other teams (Chicago, SF, Seattle) do with less talent. Somehow they manage to get WRs open.

I'm guessing you don't watch much football.

Sirianni.

(Patullo == Sirianni, BTW)

Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Sirianni's offense looks (is) bad when he doesn't have a massive talent advantage. Last year they only had a slight talent advantage instead of a massive one. Sirianni kept calling hitch routes

Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
This offense would look a lot better with AJ Brown and Jeff Stoutland contributing. Too bad Nick Sirianni's incompetence chased them both away.

Fire Sirianni.

100% It kills me that people want to get rid of Hurts when he's been handicapped by coaching his entire career.

Wake me up when they finally decide to acquire young talent.
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Amy deal in which the Phillies get older is bad. Stop trying to win next year. That's a pipe dream. The Phillies should be preparing the team for their next run. The next time they are in the playoffs it won't be with Harper, Schwarber, or Wheeler. The sooner everyone accepts that, the better.
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
They are missing young, cheap talented depth. This isn't a problem that can be solved in free agency -- they either need to develop it or trade for it. Developing talent takes time. That leaves trading away good players -- which means not competing next year (which isn't happening anyway)
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Trade everyone over 30 who can net a top-100 prospect in return. Phillies will be in the wilderness for a few years. There is no path to being a contender next year -- but the longer they try the longer the rebuild will take. I'd rather it not be a lost decade like we had after 2012.
010
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The good players on the team are old, and the young players aren't good. The farm system is barren. It's not a question of if they need to rebuild, but when. Trying to buy a championship without young depth doesn't work. For every Wheeler in FA there's a Castellanos and a Turner.
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
In 2012, they should have started the rebuild but didn't. It was 10 years before they (barely) made the playoffs again. If they don't rebuild now, they will miss the playoffs and have to start the rebuild in a worse position.

Time for a fire sale.
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Or, to put it another way: 1. They don't have their current run of success without Harper. 2. Harper has also limited the upside and length of this run (which is over after this year).
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
This is absolutely true. I also think it's the case that he is a dumb player and a dumb person and his dumbness has affected the rest of the team (most of which don't have his innate talent to compensate).

Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
If you thought this team was a serious contender you got fooled by their record in 1-run games
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Plenty of breaks havd gone the Phillies' way. Matt Olsen hit a ball 100 mph right into Duran's glove! They got 3 runs off Sale! The problem is that they aren't good enough to win with an average amount of luck. They need ALL the breaks to go their way.

Serious question -- has Sirianni ever won a game because he outcoached the opposition? It seems like he has always won with superior talent.
010
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Ben Johnson with a 3rd-string QB >>>>>>>>> Sirianni with an offense loaded with superstars
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Makes sense. Ben Johnson is a good coach. Nick Sirianni is not. McVay has been unlucky against the Eagles. That won't last.
000
Stitch's Dad @timwescott.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Maybe Harper and Schwarber can. Turner is a lost cause. This next rebuild is going to be long and painful. Enjoy these playoffs, because the Phillies won't be back for a while.

Two headlines, same day. A livable wage is essential for workers and good for business. Proud that Seattle continues to lead the way.
Two headlines from the same day day published by The Seattle Times overlaid two photos of Seattle. The top one reads, "Seattle ranks fourth among world's top cities." The bottom one reads, "Seattle announces 2027 minimum wage," highlighting the increase to $22.14/hour.

I remember the moral panic around video games in the 80's/90's. There seems to be much less of it now that kids of that era are parents themselves. It turns out that fake-shooting a fake-person isn't the same thing as real-shooting a real-person!

I like how "no violence" does not preclude a game in which you can wage thermonuclear war.

I read the press release. I see nothing to prevent the continued degradation of the news media that will occur. I fail to see how this is a good deal for Washingtonians. They don't make movies here anyway! I will remember this when you run for governor. Capitulation to fascists is never ok.
