Our ballots for the Nov elections arrived today and early voting begins Friday. Time to get serious about these midterms. Beyond rejecting MAGA everywhere possible, Virginia also has three very important constitutional amendments up for a vote (YES on all three!).

We live about 7 miles from the Mall (as the overpriced war machine flies) and are still getting the roar of jets over the house. They must be staging some of the flyovers at the nearby Army airfield. As my friends in Virginia Beach tell me, that’s the sound of freedom. 🤨

I had a few hours to kill in DC this afternoon so I went by the White House area to document the mess for myself. Couldn’t get anywhere near the place. Penn Ave and E Street are blocked and there are big fences around The Ellipse and Lafayette Square. Are they trying to hide something? <rhetorical>

Just back from London where @verizon-wireless.bsky.social “day pass” plan stuck me with the absolutely worst possible cell service, British Telecom. My 90’s era dial-up modem was faster and more reliable. Yeah, I know I should have gotten a local eSIM instead. Lesson learned.

Sunday morning, came out of the Metro at L’Enfant plaza to see half a dozen National Guard. The area is completely deserted, not even any tourists with the Smithsonian museums closed. What are they protecting? I feel sorry for them being misused so TACO can feel like a king. #nokings
