As an aside, it's total happenstance that Substack finally added a "Games" category two days ago. I've been working toward this launch for a while so the timing is a happy coincidence, and it gets me all the more excited to be part of what I imagine will be a new wave of gaming writers on Substack.

Oh, I don’t think this showed up in my notifications so I just saw it. From what I recall, it was incredibly cryptic off the bat without any establishment of characters. It felt like I had to decode everything. It’s not the type of dialogue I usually vibe with.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is my favorite game success in a bit. Putting aside that it plays to my sensibilities, it's a rebuke to every poor tendency of the AAA industry. I have no idea if this game will have any change there, but hopefully it'll encourage more small studios to chase their dreams.
