Here's an unfinished panel from a #DRG comic I'm working on. I'm *really* proud of the joke, but I'm not gonna spoil it. #art #Illustration #DeepRockGalactic #WIP

I was just dicking around last night and this happened. Think I should go through the trouble of giving it a full render? #art #illustration #WIP

An artwork drawn in pen featuring a number of abstract structures on the surface of an alien world, a ringed planet rising in the sky behind them.

Starting to see some progress with the timed gesture practice I've been focusing on. It actually looks like something now. #art #practice

Holy hell, is timed gesture drawing harder than I thought. My fundies are toast. It almost feels like learning to draw from scratch. #art #practice

Crude sketches of the basic shapes of a human torso, done under time pressure as a practice exercise.

Now that I'm posting again, here's a #selfportrait I made a while ago. I figured an artist ought to make their own pfp. #art

A vibrant portrait of a bearded man (me) crouching and looking up over his shoulder at the camera. He is wearing sunglasses and a yellow shirt against a purple background.

Would you look at that, I'm alive-ish again. Here's some concept art for a little project I have in the works. Any guesses what these magic circles are supposed to do? #art #comics

A series of four sketches, each of a magic circle concept for a WIP project of mine.

@ahistoryinart.bsky.social I finally got around to picking up The Story of Art by E.H Gombrich. I love a proper, big book. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Another #portrait using reference from earthsworld.com It's been blissful to just lose myself in the process, instead of melting my brain over the technical details of drawing, like, pentagons or whatever in perspective. #art #illustration

Just finishing up a study of this candid photograph from www.earthsworld.com (a great resource for reference images of normal, everyday people). I'm particularly proud of those reflections on the sunglasses. #art #illustration #portrait #pencils #practice

A pencil drawing of a man in a dark tank-top and a baseball cap raising one arm and looking past the "camera."

A reference image used in drawing the previous image. It is a candid photograph of a man at a county fair, dressed in a tank top and baseball cap, raising his phone above his head with one hand.

I needed to remind myself of something I told a student of mine recently: "progress is not linear." You will always need to return to the fundamentals regularly, no matter what skill you're maintaining. This is normal; don't beat yourself up over it. #art #sketch #practice
