My new claim to fame: causing @afterburn.games to update their excellent Golf Peaks game. (I wanted to replay it, but the “Clear game progress” option wasn’t working properly.)

I saw #StarWars Episode IV: A New Hope live at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Friday night; it was fantastic, as expected, and I finally got to hear “Binary Sunset” live. 😮‍💨

Today’s Minute Cryptic clue was more of a dingbat:

Yesterday’s #Stackdown threw me for a loop.
A screenshot of the list of words in yesterday’s Stackdown puzzle showing the times it took me to find each one. Most words took anywhere between 4 and 41 seconds, but the third word, “stall,” took me 7 minutes and 41 seconds.

I watched #Flow the other night and rather enjoyed it; a very beautiful movie that enthralled me pretty much the whole way through.
A poster for the movie Flow. The title is written in white at the top, and a black cat with yellow eyes is sitting on a rock and looking back towards our perspective. The background features square, stone buildings in the distance, and six peaks of narrow rock of various heights, resembling fingers pointing towards the sky.

I’m currently reading the first “He Who Fights With Monsters” by Travis Deverell, and am thoroughly enjoying it. I don’t usually go for fantasy, Discworld aside, but will make an exception for a bit of humour.

My brother and I went to see “How To Train Your Dragon“ live at #BirminghamSymphonyHall last night, and it was absolutely bloody fantastic! When the credits finished, the conductor and orchestra took their bows, and we gave them a five minute standing ovation.

I’ve been wearing nail varnish on my right hand for around 11 years, and on Friday I got my first non-sarcastic, non-trying-to-embarrass-me compliment from one of my brothers. “That’s a nice colour; I think the matte matches your ring well.” Wonders will never cease.

I have something similar … (I believe the backing is a page from The Hobbit.)
A picture with the words “What matters most in life are quotes and stuff that tell you what life is really about. And here’s a picture of a tree.” There is, unsurprisingly, a picture of a tree.

Started reading “All Systems Red“ by @marthawells.com last night (after @penguin-ponders.bsky.social’s recommendation) and ended up reading until 2am this morning; got about halfway through, which is an achievement for me as I’m a slow reader, and I can’t wait to read the rest.

One of the regular side-effects of my #ADHD is remembering that I need to do something but forgetting that I have already done it, usually multiple times. Exhibit A: the contents of my bathroom cabinet after thinking, a month ago, “I must buy shower gel and body cream.”

Went to see “The Shark is Broken“ (a dramatisation of the behind-the-scenes drama during the filming of Jaws) at Malvern Theatre yesterday. It was pretty good. The set was the boat orca with a section cut away so we could see the interior. Also, Robert Shaw was played by his his actual son.

A cousin always visits around Christmastime and brings me a bottle of gin; this year it was Aldi's with pomegranate, cranberry, and gold flakes.

I went to see Murder on the Orient Express at Malvern Theatre. The play was fantastic, and they had a train courage photo booth in the lobby; I had to do it!

I went to Jane's Pantry for lunch and the friendly waitress who always gives me special treatment gave me a double portion for my French toast. I think I should propose next time I see her.

As I was exiting the Brewhouse & Kitchen in Gloucester Quays, I saw a longboat turning round in the river. This gorgeous cocker spaniel was standing on top, and the man handling the rudder was happy for me to snap a photo:

Running any #iOS #Shortcut while the phone is locked is very inconsistent. It’ll run whilst locked if I invoke it via Siri, but if I run it from the Control Centre or the lock screen, the phone asks to be unlocked; this toggle makes zero difference:

#BladeRunner live was just okay. It was great seeing the movie on a big screen, but the soundtrack doesn’t really lend itself to an orchestra. Saying that, the saxophone in “Love Theme” sounded amazing in the symphony hall.

Went to see #Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Live last night (watching the movie on the big screen with an orchestra and DJ on stage playing the soundtrack). It was just as fun as the first one last October, and the chase scene was particularly brilliant.

I went into the garden this afternoon, between the rain showers, for some fresh air; a robin flew down, sat about 4 feet from me, and just chirped quietly for about two minutes. It was amazing.
