Unlike previous approaches, this lets us capture many characteristic features of these sources, such as the heating of the buffer gas by freshly ablated molecules, across vastly different flow regimes in a single unified model.

🚀 Turns out cold molecules are rocket science after all! In our new preprint we use PICLas, a software developed by our friends at University of Stuttgart for applications in aerospace engineering, to explore the complex dynamics inside cryogenic buffer-gas sources for molecules. lnkd.in/dxUXqMsh

By combining new magneto-optical trapping (MOT) schemes, optimized optical trapping, and coherent control techniques, our proposal could improve the sensitivity by several orders of magnitude compared with today's best experiments. Great work led by Tatsam Garg.

💡 In our new preprint, we show how these challenges can be overcome. We develop and test in simulations a complete measurement protocol for these molecules, from laser cooling and trapping to quantum state preparation and the precision measurement itself. 📄 Preprint: arxiv.org/abs/2608.06138
