The best theatre I’ve seen all year. I’m not kidding. If you’re even remotely near-ish, you want to be there. Thank me later.

The other night, @thatames.bsky.social told me a story about how she once visited a friend’s midcentury house that had its own fallout shelter. “Isn’t that bonkers?” she asked. “Actually,” I replied, “it’s bunkers.” Reader, she did not eject me from the car. That is true friendship.

Today I was reminded of this picture of Aaron Copland that was the funniest thing I'd ever seen as a dorky undergrad music major circa 2006. I made a Facebook group called "Aaron Copland didn't wear pants, so why should I?"

The cover of The Selected Correspondence of Aaron Copland, featuring a photo of Copland outdoors at a typewriter, wearing a long-sleeved black shirt but with bare legs.

Hi! I now have a lot of new followers thanks to @muppeturgy.com’s starter pack (I assume?), so I’m going to put it to y’all directly: what sort of Muppety shenanigans would convince you to donate to my Kickstarter? We have discussed doing special episodes or an online live event or merch… (1/3)

A girl in middle school once told me I was wrong, that they weren’t called the Muppets, they were “the Muffets.” Anyway, I periodically remember her and wonder which MLM drained her savings.

I am about to embark on a month and a half of intense shameless self-promotion — like way more than I am built for — and my teeth are itching already. Why did I, an extreme introvert with social anxiety, go into showbiz? Is sending rats under the table at Sardi’s to do it for me actually an option?

Twitter always felt like a party I wandered into late, never knowing the vibe. Hoping Bluesky will be different? So far, so good.

Oh hi Bluesky! It’s been a minute. (I’ll be here more often, I promise.) In the meantime: we’re making an album and we need your help! Chip in if you can, and tell anyone you know who loves musicals: this is going to be the most exciting musical theatre album of 2025…

The arrival of theater-of-my-dreams @vidiots.bsky.social to my neighborhood has meant that I’ve gotten to go see a bunch of movies I should’ve seen years ago and now get to be delighted by as if they’re new. My favorite so far? CARRIE (1976). I can’t stop thinking about what a good movie it is.
