The difference isn’t subjective.

It’s nice to see deep red citizens voicing opposition, but hard not to view it as other than self interest when you get quotes like this one, from the NE farmer who’s a-okay with everyone else losing jobs and services, as long as he’s subsidized in the end. us1.campaign-archive.com?e=972e728e83

A couple of jive turkeys wandering the hood…

A snow-shiny day in Boise, Idaho, USA.
Photo of downtown Boise this afternoon, with both the sun shine and lines of scattered snow showers moving past.

Phone grab of the Idaho Capitol This morning. A beautiful building that deserves so much better than the idiocy and nonsense produced there in modern times.

Sometimes she just sits there and stares at me. With. That. Face.
Close up of my tri-colored basset hound, Daphne, sitting and staring at me on our couch with a face only a basset hound can make.

Migration season.
Three unidentified, likely migratory birds perched in a barren oak. Birds appear in silhouette against a grey sky, as if in monochrome.

Snow day, front window view, made to look as nostalgic as I’ve been feeling as of late.
Front window view after an overnight snowfall. Clumps of snow clinging to the branches of a large cedar, a leafless yellow maple in the background. Photo has been edited to appear vintage.

Nice show tonight. East Boise Foothills, looking west toward downtown.
View of tonight’s sunset from the east Boise foothills, looking west. Oranges, yellows, and blue-greens are predominant, over a row of pine trees at the bottom.

She’s travelled across deserts (by car), is allegedly a virgin, and has claimed every room (and blanket) at our inn as if it had all been foretold.

It’s beyond outrageous, yet still being normalized. An onslaught too fast and furious for our largely corporate media to process and handle, and very much by design.

Well, no snow, but we do have this mountain/valley inversion frost which is kind of magical if you make yourself believe it.
Up close shot of the tips of a cedar tree in my front yard, covered in inversion frost.

A once promising career (believe it or not) reduced to a marionette, national security be damned. Possibly the saddest and lamest position statement ever issued by a U.S. senator.

Autumnal light, just now, backyard phone grab, east Boise. Happy Thanksgiving to my Bluesky friends new and old, or whatever occasion you might have to celebrate. Cheers.
Backyard phone grab looking at the hills beyond my fence line bathed in golden light from tonight’s sunset. Foreground includes apple trees and shrubs with yellow orange foliage.

Picked these up today at my local independent bookstore (Rediscovered Books in Boise). It’s a no Amazon, buy local, try-not-to-support-billionaires kind of Christmas for me this year, and hopefully every year going forward.

Not just online. It’s happening on high school and college campuses. Dads: teach your sons not only to be better but how to stand up this crap. Women: report it. Schools: treat it like the serious threat it is.

There was a hard freeze last night and I’m just staring out the window watching the big yellow maple in my front yard drop its leaves all at once. By the end of the day it will seem like winter, and I can’t think of a more perfect metaphor.

View from my neighborhood tonight in East Boise. Some of what you’re seeing is proactive fire management, meaning, it was set intentionally in an effort to control a rapidly spreading wildfire. Still, it’s eerie and unsettling. I’m not sure people east of the Rockies realize the extant to which…

When fascists talk about free speech, it’s because they know that the unfettered “freedom” to spread disinformation via social media is 100% essential to their movement.

Every year, I post a shot of the big yellow maple in my front yard. It seems to turn later each year, but whenever it does, it always knocks me out, and, despite some fairly aggressive pruning by the city this year, it still happily appears to me to be dancing.
Annual shot of the big yellow maple in my front yard, looking upward through the branches, four of which appear to me to be dancing. Blue sky and white clouds provide the background.
